Old Hippie Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 Monsoon Tried adding more pics, but not working…later… 1
bust Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 My kind of place however I didn't see a wine in any of the pics unless that was red drunk with ice 😳 Thanks for sharing. I like places outside the normal expectations. Remember being in Greymouth on the south island of Middle Earth and stumbling across a traditional Thai noodle van.
Old Hippie Posted January 21 Author Report Posted January 21 I tried to post more pics, menu/price list and a wine pic or 2…something wasn’t allowing them to add…operator error maybe?

Not maybe....definitely 😊 Putting your inadequacies aside, it looks like somewhere well worth a visit. Good mate of mine has a cellar door on the Margaret River in Western Australia. Wineries are such tranquil places.

The wines are ok/good, but a bit pricey and to be honest, not quite sure the price to quality ratio is there, if that makes any sense. The Shiraz that sells there for $20usd is on par with what I would get here for $10-15/btl here. Worth a look though and the food is excellent! I can’t remember the name of the Australian wine Dumsoda put up one night at dinner, quite good and I recall him saying it was on the cheaper side in OZ… Next batch of wine we make here in NorCal (Northern California) will probably be a white of some type…maybe a small 10 liter batch or so. I just don’t have to bottles or room for more… Made a batch of American Amber lager beer today…Next up will be a “pre-prohibition lager” getting hard to find a decent American beer these days…German imports are getting pricey especially with the tariffs…$60+/case of 24 bottles…
bust Posted January 23 Report Posted January 23 I remember when I used to meet the Dumb Cnut here in Sydney usually once a month for dinner. He loved his Reds. I introduced him to my friends wines. Maybe it was one of them. It's sold fairly broadly in LOS in some of the more civilized bars and restaurants. Miss the man I put on a wine tasting for my friend one afternoon in Phnom Penh. I'm no sommelier so I took a mate who is a well respected chef up there. Used to be married to Thailand's Iron Chef. Was a great afternoon. He wines are now on the wine list at the Raffles and the Sun & Moon group of hotels plus a number of other high end restaurants and bars.

If my memory serves me correct I first met him the same afternoon I met you at Gullivers. The Fish Skeleton logo looks familiar and may have been it. Yes, he loved reds. I remember him saying, , “…you don’t need to blow a lot of money on a bottle, plenty of good solid wines at reasonable prices…” Many wine knowledgeable people I’ve met along the way have said more less the same thing. Never had a bad glass with/from him. He and I had a “time share” from Lone Staar. Nice girl, saw her 2 years ago, still working, bit older, but still cute and sweet. Do let his family know we still think of him, maybe leave out the part about the “time share?” Or not, you know them better than I do… DumSoda and Suadam, what a pair that was…
