Gentlemen, Ladies, Troglodytes, if you have a moment, I would value your opinion and I am hoping, that what is left of the brains trust, that is Thai360, can clarify the premise of this fellow's YouTube video.

About 9 minutes of what I feel, maybe a valid idea:    that Ai does not need to be given to us,  via a large company, with us paying for the privilege, alternately, run your own Ai at home on any old machine, and do not interface with Musk or anyone else...

Comments please.

I have been watching Atlassian's recent hiccup with interest. Cannon-Brookes and Farquhar are referred to as the accidental billionaires creating the company on a $10,000 credit card. Now worth an estimated $50 billion. The first sign of trouble in any industry is staff cuts. They just made 1600 redundant. Beware the domino effect. While not entirely focused on AI their software will become obsolete if trends continue.

My interest in the youtubery above, was to run up an open source version,  on a local machine, air gapped, which I did, then abandoned , then uninstalled and sent it into the night, tarred and feathered.

Whilst it worked, it was no good on tricky or subject specialist questions, as really it had to have, the vast data sets in the vast data centres, to be any good, so I'll just keep on using Perplexity. Which for some inexplicable reason, has a  level of my trust....

See? it's caught me...
