The local Thai Temple had to postpone the entertainments this past Sunday,  because of the non-Cyclone and will attempt a new performance this coming Sunday.

The Thai temples here usually don’t have the big water fight type events.  Last time I was there for this, it was a big mess with the farangs and Indian tailor shop owners (many are Nepalese as well apparently) acting like amateur drunks on their first binge. Really pissed me off, one drunk Brit sprayed, deliberately, a high powered water gun in my face and shorted out my hearing aid…pissing me off…he apologized profusely when he realized what he’d done, but, well damage done…an Indian guy (or Nepalese?) was holding a water hose between his legs as if urinating on my wife and othe women as they walked by was about the beat him when a Thai girl stepped in and did it for me…fuckin’ guys just can’t seem to handle their booze… Oddly, we were in Hua Hin for the first part of it and were seated outside eating and watching the show and no one bothered us. The problems were in Bangkok. Years back up country it was kind of a different deal in the village, people set up a party area and trucks drove by spraying water and they would stop and have a drink as well…didn’t seem to “in your face” I was even asked if it was ok to rub me with paste of whatever and douse with water…hint, saying no does not work! But good fun. Over all, I could live without it…

Thai temple here, the kids were told “DO NOT THROW WATER ON THE FARANGS…” Not sure why really, but that was the rule…we have a celebration, oddly scheduled for May 16th, again, no idea why. My wife was told the dress for their group was traditional silk top and jeans, apparently, this is some new fashion statement…my wife prefers the full traditional Thai Silk from Surin…

And mine, similar from Luang Prabang.

Though the coincident eye candy, that is turns up at such occasions, is usually in a mix of silk and modern, or some, who you'd swear came straight to the temple after a hard night at G'Spot, are in "revealing", especially if they are unaccompanied by and on the scout for, a male of the species.

I've always enjoyed Songkran. Spent it in 3 different countries one year. Had fun with PMIH in Lao.

But agree about the filthy Indians. Was at V8 Diner once at 1.00am and a pack of them came running through. While they were attacking each other not hard to imagine the impact it had on everyone else minding their own business.

Stayed at a hotel that catered to them in Phuket years back…loud, ill mannered smelly lot…yelling and screaming…very annoying…

Another thing I have noticed over the years is the increase of violent clashes usually between locals and drunken Europeans/Arabs/Indians
