Alec - was in the RAAF in WW2 then became a bookie, was a wonderful mate of mine from when I was in my 20's before I ever moved to Thailand. 

He was one of lifes "Gentlemen" sweet to everyone, had a female bank manager who would visit him when she needed topping up, as well as any girl who didn't make quota that month in the bars. 

I could tell 50 great stories about him,

That night have been him. Last I heard he had gone back to Oz, regretfully perhaps… was he the guy who was originally from England, but stayed in Australia after the war? He was around 80 or so at the time…we walked by there the other day, the whole vibe seems a lot different, even for low season.

Alec came back to Oz in the 2010's

 

Died about 14 years ago.

 

Sadly missed

 

He had one of the large rooms on the lower floors 

 

Lived at the Nana 11 months of the year for about 10 - 15 years.

 

Before that he was in and out of Fiji .

 

His room was in high demand as you'd get a never ending parade of door knocks from lovely ladies wanting to stay for a very small pre-negotiated fee. Plus a gift from his morning walk to boabae market

 Corona is overcome. The pandemic situation has returned to normal worldwide for the past year.
It is time to start a new journal.

Personal experiences, thoughts about reading books, reflections on what I have read in newspapers, magazines, blogs
and what I have seen in the cinema, on television or on the internet.

I thought this board was dying because there were hardly any posts left. So I switched to a very lively German board.
And I'm posting on an English Pattaya board by Scot Alex from the Rockhouse.
