  • Thailand's Immigration Bureau is testing a new mobile app called THIM (Thailand Immigration Management) for foreign nationals to register their arrival information before traveling to the country.
  • The app allows users to submit passport details and travel plans to create a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), a process designed to take under three minutes and reduce airport congestion.
  • Currently in a trial phase for download on iOS and Android, the THIM app is scheduled for a full official launch in August 2026.
  • Future plans include developing THIM into a "Super App" for all foreigners, handling document requests, immigration appointments, and providing access to a 24/7 tourist police hotline.

We breezed through immigration this last time, in and out. I am allowed to used the disabled que or go with my wife through the Thai line…scanned a QR code through my work website when I listed for the flight. Took 2 minutes to complete and no issue. Just got my retirement “O” visa so next time may be shorter line as well…Japan was a night mare, we missed our connecting flight home… no worry, a night in Narita and a great Sushi lunch the next day…

Years ago I used to regularly eat at a hole in the wall sushi place upstairs at Narita that seems to have gone, never saw anyone except Japanese in there, cheap as, with little drawers for utensils, great beer, hidden away, was better than anything past the gates. Looking now online I can't seem to find it :(

There are still restaurants up stairs, not sure about your sushi place. Past the gates, there is a small snack shop, a Macdonalds and 1-2 other places That are mediocre at best.
