Earlier, a total of 4,322 freshmen at the university tested positive for liver fluke parasites using rapid urine strip tests, triggering the health alarm that lead to the Department of Disease Control suspending the stool examinations.

Dr. Wichan said the small number of liver fluke cases found is a clear indication that the infection is not at the level of an epidemic, adding that the parasites do not spread from humans to humans but through the eating of raw or uncooked fresh-water fish.

This was a big problem in Sakhon Nakorn a few years back, a lake was full of the flukes, people swam in the water and or cows drank the water, people ate the blood larb and got sick, many died. Not sure of what the lake’s status is currently. Highly treatable. But god damn! That many people sick in 1 area, probably more in the surrounding areas…

Good uni, had a satellite many years ago launched.

Liver flukes cause so many problems in the village,

I know a bloke dying recently caused by eating raw pork,

On his death bed he kept asking for raw pork, family was outraged

"Well it's not going to kill me now is it"!
