Thai police removed two American service members after a physical fight in Pattaya, Thailand, where the aircraft carrier stopped in port after months of combat operations during the Iran war.

Thai police and members of the ship’s shore liaison group were dispatched by the Thai emergency call center to the incident. Two Americans were taken to the joint operations center run by the U.S. Navy and Thai local authorities at the Hard Rock Cafe in Pattaya. *

Srathongyoo said the Americans were then taken back to the aircraft carrier, and in the daily meeting between U.S. Navy officials and Thai authorities to discuss security incidents and response, Navy officials told him those two service members have now been restricted to the ship for the rest of the port call... Well not really, impossible to do serious rust treatment while at sea and since they were at sea for so long well this is the result...and if they leave it be then the operational efficiency will drop -> because rust (especially at sea) breaks things down.

That look like way more than a single deployment of rust to me

Don't remember precisely how long it got deployed but 250+ days at sea without port of call will do that but yes you are right, usually no warship does such a long deployment without port calls but then we all know who the commande-in-chief is (and the minister of defence....)

The debris does not stop at the waterline. There should be tons of shells and tentacles because antifouling has a limited lifespan. Bearings for the propshafts will have to be replaced and heaven knows what else. This vessel will be out of service for a long time.

Judging by the photos, this aircraft carrier is a massive heap of scrap.
