This was slashdotted today, but I think it makes interesting reading for those who are deterred from buying a Mac simply because their favourite apps dont run under the Apple OS.

One crowded laptop

No-one is about to suggest that emulating an OS on another architecture is without its share of drawbacks, but it is food for thought. The article is a ringing endorsement for VirtualPC, now a Microsoft product, and its ability to emulate the X86 instruction set on the Power PC architecture. Interestingly, the author doesnt seem to have tried to install any of the Linux distros aimed at the Power PC chip, preferring to use VPC to get Red Hat for X86 up and running.

Enjoy.
