Lamock Chokaprret
Zanzibar on Soi 11 does have good food but small portions. And it is Italian. If you want to take a date somewhere and have a more "Thai" experience, take her to Yok Yor Marina on the Chao Phrya river. Good food, cheap and on Fri/Sat nights they've got a little show with original Thai dressed dancers, etc. Very few farang in site, although a few Japanese frequent the place. I think its about a 80 baht taxi ride if no traffic.

At least the menue looks quite italian but what you get is the thai version of the dishes - which makes Z. one of the better italian restaurants in the Sukh. area. I always liked this place a lot, as well as some thai friends did. And the location gives an additional plus. Have not been there recently but was told that they have a new chef since about half a year. So about the actual situation you might check out... In Zanzibar's case, the food is uncharacteristically (for Italian) spicy. But no problem for me. As I said. Tasty.
