Pescator
Hi PJC, Seems like the file archive works fine, this thread was started in 2002. The sound I refer to I have heard in several locations throughout the southern peninsula, mostly in forests but while I was living in Phuket there it was too in the garden next door. I am surprised that noone seem to have heard it because the sound this critter emits is rather overwhelming and goes on non stop. Hmmm, mayby I am just suffering from Tinnitus My wife is from a small upcoutry village and when I first arrived there we went cicada hunting. Supplied with long bambus poles with a plastic bag affixed to the top and with a piece of cotton wool inside the plastic bag to make the insects get stuck off we went. Within half an hour or so we caught like 50 noisy little buggers, however the noise was soon to die out when they were fried in hot oil. Rather tasty actually. They are extremely noisy and especially when you live in a house with just openings for windows and no glass, there is nothing to stop the sound from driving you mad when you wanna get some sleep. So it makes sense to catch the ones around the house. Cheers Hua Nguu
