  1. "I don't like to bad mouth the sitting President when I travel internationally."

    :applause:

When Thais ask me what I think of Obama, I just say I am disappointed. If they ask me who will win, I say it is a toss up. They don't know enough to understand any other comments anyway.

    Meanwhile ...

This is my position as well. I sat back and watched "hope and change" become "more of the same" leading even further down toward flat out disaster. (IMHO)

  2. Amazing that it took him over 2 hours to reach his altitude but not very long to float down to earth in the New Mexico desert. I stayed up into the wee hours to watch it.

I wonder what his life insurance must cost?

  3. Schools are very different from when I was young. Instead of grades, some schools have gone to pass-fail. Why bother to study very hard, if all you are going to get is a "pass"? There are plenty of stories about teachers teaching solely for the tests, not for the students to actually learn something. I see university graduates applying for jobs here whose writing is terrible. They probably could not have graduated 30 years ago.

Nevertheless look at the university ratings worldwide in this study:

    :dunno:

What is more funny is that 6 out of the top 20 are some of the cheapest (cost wise) to attend in the USA.

  4. These Gitmo detainees need to be finalized in some manner. The info we have gotten from them has been used. Its all dated now. Send them back. I know the argument is that they will continue again. Do we have any evidence they do? Maybe they do. I don't know, I tend to think they are a known commodity and know next time they will be killed out right. Send them back to the governments they came from or try them.

    http://www.cnn.com/2...ison/index.html

Several have been recaptured or killed on the battle field after release. Google it and see.

But I too agree it is time to shut the place down. Either try them, kill them, or just let them go. Those are the only choices I can see.

  5. If the government is doing illegal activities, people should not speak out?

Wouldn't an oath be negated if the government was doing illegal activities?

Problem is for us on the sidelines, we only get fed what the news media/government wants us to hear/see.

How are whistleblowers treated? like shit but they are usually doing it to save the USA! go figure... :dunno:

We do "illegal" things all the time. Every government and just about every body does. (Ever speed?) In the the USAs case, the objective is to protect it's citizens from the other guys doing worse illegal things. (Not that it always ends up that way, sadly.)

There is a big question on the "legality" of drone strikes ordered by Bush and now Obama. But I am hard pressed to look at any list of intended targets and say they deserved to live.

As for Laden, he declared and actively fought a war against the US and the rest of the world. The US had every right to hunt him down and kill him dead. The sailor (I'm told they are revoking his seal qualifications.) had no right to talk about it at this time. As Flash said, 10 or 20 years later I would have had not issue with it.

  6. Not a good list at all. A good few of those are not true by several years.

    MILITARY & VETERANS

    • Ordered the Pentagon to cover expenses of families of fallen soldiers if they wish to be on site when the body arrives back in the US (2009)

    • Ended the Bush-era practice of awarding “no-bid†defense contracts (2009)

    • Improving benefits for veterans as well as VA staffing, information systems, etc. (2009)

    • Authorized construction of additional health centers to care for veterans (2009)

    • Suspended the Bush-era decision to purchase a fleet of Marine One helicopters from suppliers in favor of American made helicopters (2009)

    • Ordered a review of the existing “Don’t ask, don’t tell†policy on gays in the military (2010)

    • New GI Bill for returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan (2009)

    • Signed bill providing assistance for caregivers of veterans wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan (2010) * Note: The omnibus bill does the following: Training, funding, and counseling for caregivers; promoting pilot childcare programs for women vets under treatment at the VA; independent oversight to prevent abuse; readjustment counseling for National Guard and reservist units; etc.

    • Eliminated co-payments for veterans who are catastrophically disabled (2010)

    • Fulfilled campaign promise to have combat troops (90,000) out of Iraq by August 31, 2010 (2010)

    • Signed The Families of Fallen Heroes Act, which covers the moving costs of immediate family members of those lost in service (military, intelligence, and security personnel) (2010)

    Enough said.

  7. few chaps even held the position of 'Commander in Chief of North America'......

A title rarely found in USA school books!

    Let me guess...

    Because that's not a title?

    Commander in Chief

It astounds me how little you know. Our school system has certainly failed you. You need to demand an education!!!

  8. By getting baptized Mormon, it opens

the doorway for the person to become a

    God in another World.

The Mormons believe Jehovah and Jesus are the same

and that Jehovah is not the supreme God.

So we take it you made this Hitler stuff up again....?

  9. Was speaking with an FBI agent awhile back. Seems every time any national candidate comes to town all agents are taken off current cases/duties and stategically placed in crowds. If peacefull all are placed with the peacefull people. If protestors some are placed with the protestors.

These were uniformed armed to the teeth officers. Most UCs would be hard to spot.

    When will Republicans realize that

    Romney believes

Jesus and the Devil are brothers.....

    Solid Christian values.

Values? Sounds like solid math. If you believe in the Christian God then Jesus and the Devil are two sides of the same coin.

  10. "For example, Mr. Romney wants to keep all the Bush tax cuts, then cut taxes much further, particularly for the rich, but he says the plan won’t grow the deficit by a dime. He won’t say how he will accomplish this — there are no real numbers in his plan beyond a vague pledge to eliminate some loopholes."

    LINK

Those darn newspapers just won't print the actual facts and numbers of Romney's tax plan!

See, this is why I asked you. We here a lot abut these cuts for the ultra wealthy, but I have yet to see someone actually point them out or even define "ultra wealthy." I know in my neighborhood, the guy making $250k a year with three kids is doing well, but is far from wealthy.

So when ever anyone says what you said above, I ask where they got that from, because I really cant find it.

  11. My question to the question the guy poses is whom? Without reading the article, if the alternative is Romney, its Obama clearly. If its someone like a Ron Paul or such, sure, but the fact is there are only two choices. Romney is clearly NOT better or even the same.

You need to read it then. It is not so much why Romney would be a great choice but how Obama has just screwed up the country. He even says Mitt is not the best person he can imagine. It seriously eviscerates him.

    Here is an example:

Unemployment was supposed to be 6 percent by now. It has averaged 8.2 percent this year so far. Meanwhile real median annual household income has dropped more than 5 percent since June 2009. Nearly 110 million individuals received a welfare benefit in 2011, mostly Medicaid or food stamps.Welcome to Obama’s America: nearly half the population is not represented on a taxable return—almost exactly the same proportion that lives in a household where at least one member receives some type of government benefit. We are becoming the 50–50 nation—half of us paying the taxes, the other half receiving the benefits.

  12. Papa John’s Becomes First Business to Put a Price on Obamacare

"The CEO of Papa John’s pizza made headlines this week upon declaring that Obamacare would cost him between 11 and 14 cents more per pizza. While many small-business owners have speculated about the cost of the bill on their businesses, John Schnatter was the first entrepreneur to put an actual amount on the bill in regard to his personal business.Schnatter has made no secret of who he supports for the 2012 election, and said he does not support the health-care overhaul. The pizza mogul hosted a fundraiser for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney at his Louisville, KY home in April. He acknowledged the cost would not impact him as badly as it stands to hurt his smaller counterparts. Papa John’s has a high volume of orders, so therefore it can distribute the costs among its clientele so they won’t feel such a hit.<br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13.63636302947998px; background-color: rgb(245, 245, 255); ">“We certainly understand the importance of health.........................."

$0.14 a pie sure is a good way to put things to the beer and pizza crowd that they can understand.
