  1. I'd distinguish between combat veterans and the rest of the military. Combat veterans deserve greater benefits than they receive now.

I would support this cut for E-6 and above and O-4 and above and CWO-2 and above. They make a TON more then those lower on the pay scale. And yes, it would effect me, too.

(Oh and you currently get 50% pay at 20 years 75% pay at 30.)

  2. All service men are covered by the SGLI which pays out AT LEAST $500k in the event of your death.

Four killed in US spy plane crash: US military

Four American special operations personnel were killed over the weekend in the crash of their aircraft in Djibouti as it returned from a mission, the US military said Monday.

The U-28, a modified single engine turbo prop plane used by special operations units, crashed Saturday near Camp Lemonnier, a base used by the US military in the tiny Horn of Africa state.

The Pentagon identified the victims as Captain Ryan Hall, 30, Captain Nicholas Whitlock, First Lieutenant Justin Wilkins, and senior airman Julian Scholten, 26.

The four were based in Hulbert Field, Florida where they were assigned to special operations and intelligence squadrons.

The US Africa Command said the U-28 was on a "routine flight" when it went down six miles (10 kilometers) from the Djibouti International Airport.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

I doubt the standard 'traning mission' excuse that's always trotted out. RIP to them. I don't know how much special forces guys are paid (I read it once, can't recall) but whatever it is, it ain't enough.

I would not like to know that ANY of them or their families are struggling financially and if they die, the amount their families get should be a good sum. I hope it is.

I'd also like to see us cut a lot of the fat from the defense budget and use some of the savings on wages, benefits, medical care, etc. on the soldiers. The ones who are actually doing the hard work.

The VA should be one of the most state of art hospitals. I don't know how they are but if it isn't, something is terribly wrong.

  3. Hey Flash. Why did you change the quote from the link? You of all people would you lie to us??

85-year-old woman may sue TSA after being strip searched at JFK Airport

An 85-year-old Long Island grandmother says she plans to sue the TSA after a humiliating strip search on Tuesday by agents at JFK Airport.

Lenore Zimmerman, who lives in Long Beach, says she was on her way to a 1 p.m. flight to Fort Lauderdale when security whisked her to a private room and took off her clothes.

    “I walk with a walker — I really look like a terrorist,†she said sarcastically. “I’m tiny. I weigh 110 pounds, 107 without clothes, and I was strip-searched.â€

TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said a review of closed circuit TV footage from the airport shows “proper procedures were followed.â€

But Zimmerman, whose hunched back puts her at 4-foot-11, said her ordeal began after her son, Bruce, drove her to the JetBlue terminal for the Florida flight. She lives in warm Coconut Creek during the winter.

She checked her bags, waited for a wheelchair and parted ways with her doting son — her only immediate relative.

When Zimmerman reached a security checkpoint, she asked if she could forgo the advanced image technology screening equipment, fearing it might interfere with her defibrillator.

She said she normally gets patted down. But this time, she says that two female agents escorted her to a private room and began to remove her clothes.

    “I was outraged,†said Zimmerman, a retired receptionist.

As she tried to lift a lightweight walker off her lap, she says, the metal bars banged against her leg and blood trickled from a gash.

“My sock was soaked with blood,†she said. “I was bleeding like a pig.â€

She says the TSA agents showed no sympathy, instead pulling down her pants and asking her to raise her arms.

“Why are you doing this?†she said she asked the fascist pigs, who did not respond.

The TSA claims the footage does not show any sign of the injury.

“Our screening procedures are conducted in a manner designed to treat all passengers with dignity, respect and courtesy,†Farbstein said with a sneer.

Zimmerman says a medic arrived to treat her injury. The process took so long that she missed her 1 p.m. flight and had to catch a later one.

Her son said he was shocked when his mom called around 9 p.m. that night and described what happened.

“She was put through a hell of a day,†he said.

Zimmerman, who takes blood thinners, later had a tetanus shot for fear of infection from the walker wound.

Bruce Zimmerman, 53, said he can’t understand why the agents targeted his mom.

“She looks like a sweet, little old lady,†he said. “She’s not a disruptive person or uncooperative.â€

    America's Gestapo in action ...

  4. Judging by the adds alone, you would have to be a total moron to believe anything on infowars.

Case in point: All of you who swear off antibiotics, raise their hands, 'caus you will not be able to in about 5 years or less with out them.

  5. Mekong beat me to it.....it is indeed a very arrogant and totally clueless quote.....

Its not about defending the rest of us' date=' its all about business....

But thanks for the though

I think this topic needs a thread of its own. Should it start with a quick overview of history of the world since 1900?

    Try to be civil.

    Civil ? I was not civil ?

    Thats double arrogance :)

I never said you weren't. (But Mekong sure was not.)

  6.

Are you trying to say we should borrow a lot more money?

No. Re read what I wrote. And again, I know it is hard to do, but try NOT to think of it like your personal financial decisions. These are nation states.

  7. It is. The military Industry complex cant fight (or hold a candle to) the Media which only makes money when it exposes it.

That is they beauty of the current system. Everyone is out to get the evil do'er. So they dont last very long.

  8. I found cock fighting interesting in Isaan. In the USA they fight till one cock is dead. The fights I have seen in Isaan are not like that. They clean up their respective cocks and take them home.

You know... I am from The South, and I have never heard of the game the OP talked about. You?

A human fights the bird? How do you get the birds to attack a man....?

  9. So can I say you actually believe it is wise for a government to spend 50% more then they take in and to accumulate one of the largest debts the world has ever seen?

Being you have a 'clue' I guess this will not be a difficult answer for you.

It's not. Just takes a look at world economics from a non-reactionary position over the past say 2 centuries.

But you also have to temper that look with the knowledge rules that you and I have to follow as private citizens do not and have never applied to nation states.

Note: I never said it was wise. I just said it is done and is not "very unstable." Try to look at it from the other side. What would be the benefit from the US owing the world a lot of money.... (Take a bit to think about it. I'll tell you if you need me to, but I bet you can see it after a few mins... if that long!)

  10. And it almost always will be as long as it has to pay to defend the rest of you.

    The Arrogance of that quote

FUCK OFF HOME YANKIES we didn't ask for or need you intervention

    Gung Ho Assholes

You should be more pissed off at the truth of it.

    I am.

I would love an isolationist America.

  11. No... I'm saying you obviously have no clue what you are talking about.

But as obviously you have a clue' date=' would you mind explaining the numbers then ?

    BB[/quote']

Sure. Governments dont work like normal people do, so you can not compare the two which is what you are doing.

The US has been a debtor nation since the beginning. And it almost always will be as long as it has to pay to defend the rest of you. The thing is, push comes to shove, that debt is just paper and can be nullified with the stroke of a pen.

Again, nation states dont work by the same rules the rest of us have to. Just ask China.

  12. I keep telling you guys we are no longer a free and fair republic.

And I keep telling you, you are more free here than any where else.

You cant make it in the US? Where you gonna go? Have fun trying it in China!
