  1. An Englishman, a Scotsman, an Irishman, a Latvian, a Turk, an Aussie, an Egyptian, a Chinese man, a Mexican, a Spaniard, a Greek, a Russian, an Estonian, a German, an Italian, a Kiwi, a Pole, a Lithuanian, a Swede, a Finn, a Romanian, a Bulgarian, a Serb, a Czech and a Swiss went into a pub.

The landlord says "Sorry, I can't let you in without a Thai"

..it's an old one, but sure it's the way I tell em!

  2. >>btw - Where have you been Robaus? Missed your provocations!

... been travelling around the land of the long white cloud for a couple of months. Back to Oz next week via Brisbane, if floods subsided.

Back to Disneyworld late Feb hopefully.

  3. I think we are on the same page, BT

When early Christians falsely libeled Jews that they had blood on their hands it was complete bullshit and an excuse for a pogrom.

Palin is trying to jump on the bandwagon (for the Jewish sympathy vote?) saying that she is being falsely libeled too.. the faith of the assassination victim is irrelevant for Palin's purpose.. a spot of irony maybe that she hadn't quite thought through.

The difference is that IMO she is partly responsible for the bloodshed in Arizona. Why the fuck use gun analogies such as "cross hairs" and "Don't retreat, reload" if "2nd amendment remedies" is not what is going through her mind.... besides huge amounts of empty space.

And the ridiculous name for her group... The Tea Party. Its not a revolutionary war against a tyrannical George III and his government. Obama is the democratically elected president of the USA. You actually won the 18th Century war! Someone tell her she doesn't have to fight the redcoats any more; just use the ballot box, and see which policies the majority fancy.

Sarah could have used sporting, economic, or even sexual metaphors... "Let's put some Viagra into this nation. Let's all grope for the G Spot.. Who'll help me find my clitoris?" :hubba:

If Sarah can get carried away with imaginative rhetoric, so can I. :-)

  4. >>And his mates?...Labour in the uk are the loony whiney left not conservatives.

...The plan to invade Iraq on a phoney pretext was hatched in Washington by Bushit and his neo con mates such as Wolfowitz, Perle, and Feith who had strong allegiances to a certain Middle Eastern country.

Blair and Howard were just Bushit's poodles being taken for walkies.

  5. >>Bush said that he preferred to personally meet privately with the families of those fallen to the extent possible. (Snopes says that he met with 100's of such families.)

...it'd be interesting to know what words of comfort he used to explain how he had led their children into a war that was a complete waste of resources and patriotic lives. USA didn't even get cheap oil out of the fiasco.

  6. >>I said I didn't remember.

    You're in illustrious company, FM.

Downunder we know "I can't recall" as the Alan Bond defense since emulated by several West Australian Premiers, dodgy entrepreneurs, the Archbishop of Melbourne, and Bill Clinton amongst others

It's a ripper defense for avoiding perjury on the witness stand.

  7. >>>>I don't seem to remember Obie visiting Fort Hood after that loony major massacred US soldiers there.

You have a very selective memory, FM.

Republican President Bushit did not attend a single funeral or arrival of a single coffin of one of the 4,432 American service personnel killed in a futile war started by him and his neo con mates ostensibly looking for non existent WMD.

    Shame on him.

  8. Re. the Aussie film review site At The Movies I recommended and have been categorizing mathematically for the last 4 -5 years...since I last updated it 2 weeks ago, it has become far more interactive and user friendly.

Coincidence?.. maybe the bots have been at work picking up info from thai360?

You can now access all the 5 star, 4.5 star etc in one hit with links to the full transcript reviews.

Soongmak, "The Losers" scored 2 out of 5. One of the reviewers David only gave it 0.5 out of 5. So he obviously agrees with you.

Apologies to LizardKIng and Khun Kong. If this innovation had happened two weeks ago, we wouldn't have had our minor altercation re lengthy posts.

My 5 years work is down the shit shoot, but at least its now easier to quickly compare At The Movie reviews with other sites.

  9. Thanks, Dave. Glad you found the list useful. It will soon slip off this page anyway for those who don't like it.

The ratings are not mine. They belong to the 2 ABC (Australia) film critics.

I simply translated the icon system they use on their site eg.

    Maragaret Pomeranz :up::up::up::up:

    David Stratton :up::up::up:

    = (4+3)/2 = 3.5 average

so that I could put the figures in an Excel spreadsheet and sort from best to worst. You can't manipulate the original icons mathematically.

I just use it as a rough guideline to begin my search for worthwhile viewing. I don't agree with all their ratings either. I just included them as is ... warts and all.

I look at what they think are the best, follow the links to their detailed reviews at At The Movies, and then compare reviews at other sites too such as Imdb and Rotten Tomatoes.

I enjoyed Grizzly Man as a psychological insight into the mind of a loser, who fantasized that he had become a winner.. {Spoiler ahead]..

    ... until he got eaten!

  10. >>You don't HAVE to do the whole damn list!

... I didn't! I made the cut off point 3.5 out of 5 (could've taken it down to 0.5 for the rubbish), because I noticed some good films down to that level. I thought that was the idea of the thread.. to help people find good films to view.

What is it with some people on this board? Someone does something useful for you, and you just get abused for it. Are people incapable of scrolling or reading more than 20 lines? Here's a list that you won't find anywhere else on the net from 2 professional film critics and sometimes others averaged in, with their star ratings painstakingly translated by me into a numerical spreadsheet so that you can sort in descending order. It wasn't a copy and paste job. I couldn't redirect you with a link. I use it myself and one or two other friends I have passed it onto appreciate it. Just thought I'd share it with board members too. Seems like a big mistake. You'd rather read an entire thread to glean one or two picks. :dunno:

How about following these reply guidelines, and perhaps we'd have a healthier more active board without scaring off newbies with negativity.

    Either, or...

    1. Positive feedback

    2. Polite, constructive criticism

    3. Joke, smileys to show comments are tongue in cheek

    4. Say nothing!

  11. >>Jay-sus, like I'm gonna read that long list.

    up2u

No need for sarcasm. I was just trying to be helpful.

The internet is full of such "recommended by experts" lists. This one you won't find anywhere else on the net apart from thai360.

I believe the Academy Awards work on the same premise.

My time is limited. I use such lists to help me begin my search for good viewing material. Makes sense to me.

Notice the list is in descending order.

I suggest that if you're looking for a good film, search in the first 20 only.

  12. I have been keeping a database on a spreadsheet of recommended films from Australia's ABC TV's regular film critique programme "At The Movies" with Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton. Well worth visiting the site for the actual transcripts of their discussions on the relative merits of a film.

Of course tastes will vary but I tend to agree with most of their picks... yes and strongly disagree with the odd one too. As always YMMV but it gives you a starting place to compare critiques on other sites such as Rotten Tomatoes and Imdb, before you view the film.

I have been keeping the database for about 6 years but selfishly deleted many that I had already seen. Then a couple of years ago decided to keep my already-seens on the database too. In other words, the database is not complete.

This is not a copy and paste job. You won't find this anywhere else on the net. They display their findings in a star system out of 5. I have translated those icons into a numerical average and sometimes incorporated an Imdb rating too.

  13. Had a bad reputation a few years ago. My mate (a regular patron there) got money stolen from his safety deposit box... obviously an inside job, and they tried to sweep it under the carpet until he got the police involved.

Their attached gogo bar was a notorious rip off joint for LDs.... see archives.

That was 6 years ago. Of course, may be under new management now.
