  1. Agree that it can be tough these days to find the right balance in Cowboy - the coyote thing is an impediment, attitudes are mixed, and some old stand-bys (Afterschool, e.g.) have lost some of their charm.

Soi 22 - you really have to be committed to having a good time there (which I often am, so that works for me at times) to make it an option. A good number of preparatory and ongoing drinks helps, as well as a degree of blinders/beer goggles as to quality and selection.

Pattaya, ah Pattaya - whatever you're looking for, you can find there.

Even Patts is changing now.Lots more cashed up visitors and less girls = higher prices for everything.
  2. Yeah, who in their right mind would retire to Norway ? Give me anywhere in SEA .What about the Canary Islands or Spain, good climate and miles better than Ireland,Canada etc.? As usual, choosing the wrong sets of data to analyse has produced a result that makes no sense.

  3. Had about 7 k baht stolen from my hotel room in Patts last year. There was a small safe in the room but it looked cheap and was secured to the wall by only a couple of small screws, plus I didn`t know how the key pad/locking mechanism worked,so I thought I would give it a miss. The cash was part towards the next months rent and I didn`t want to take it to the beach so decided to conceal it in the room in a very out-of-the-way place.A few days later, checked and some b*stard had pinched it .Most likely the cleaning staff.Luckily passport, cards, laptop were not touched otherwise I would have been farked.Only stayed there another week but made sure I took all my valuables with me when I went out .

  4. In addition, the METV must be applied for in person ( no postal option ) :surprised: and applicants have to show copies of last 6 months bank statements showing a balance of at least £5000 .Also, letter from employer/hmrc tax self-assessment/pension documents, copies of flight details and hotel reservations :help: ....looks like they are trying to make it as difficult as possible :shakehead

  5. Just checked out the Thai consulate in Birmingham where I usually buy my visas. The situation seems to have changed. Before ,tourist visas could be single, double or even triple ( never had one of these )entries each entry good for 60+30 days at a cost of £25 per entry. Now,only 2 options are given,a single entry TR which could give 60+30 days,or the new METV which allows multiple entries over a max period of 6 months at a cost of £125 ,each entry good for 60 days.....so the cost of a 6 mnth stay has increased substantially.I am assuming that with the new METV it is not possible to extend the 60 days by paying the c. 2000 bt fee at immig.

  6. Who cares as long as they look good :hubbahubba: ....Having said that though, what seems enticing under the low lights of the club/bar/agogo can look very different when the wig, false eyelashes and make-up are removed and what your left with is a small, puny guy :help: ...er,so a friend told me :grinyes: .Ktoys tend not to age well.Yes I have seen some stunners but what will they look like at 40 with a beer gut and stubble :santa: .
