That's what is happening. But the world population was a lot lower in the 1800s. Even if the economy improves the demand for commodities will increase. It doesn't mean everybody will start buying gold....just enough who don't trust paper to keep the price up.

I see gold as insurance. Printing money seems to be all the US government can do. GOP talks about budget cuts but it's just talk. The debt just hit 14 trillion.

Should be OK. This kind of volatility is normal with gold. But I think the big run up is over for a while. I'm looking for around $1600 per oz by year end. Most miners make money at anything over $600 if they don't sell forward too much.

My problem with Sarah and people like her is the way they take the bible literally. They talk about freedom but they want to organize the world round some mumbo-jumbo. But I don't hate her. In some ways I'd like to see her in the Whitehouse. It could be very entertaining if she doesn't blow us all up.

I don't like the militant attitude of the far right on a lot of things, but the efforts made to link all these things together is a bit of a stretch. Might as well shut down the Beatles because Manson thought Helter Skelter was his cue to murder.

 

I don't think anything will get 'shut down'. America is just too big on personal freedom for that to happen. Which is what this whole thing is about I guess.

Arizona Republicans resign over security concerns

Saturday's shooting in Tucson, which left six dead and 14 injured, including Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, has prompted several Republicans involved in Arizona politics to resign their positions, the Arizona Republic reports.

Legislative District 20 party chairman Anthony Miller, who was recently re-elected to serve a second one-year term, and other staff members cited security concerns as the reason for their withdrawals, the newspaper reports. "He said constant verbal attacks after that election and Internet blog posts by some local members with Tea Party ties made him worry about his family's safety," Edythe Jensen writes for the Republic.

Also resigning for similar reasons, according to Jensen: Newly elected District 20 Republican secretary Sophia Johnson, first vice chairman Roger Dickinson, and Jeff Kolb, the former district spokesman.

I agree with what you say about Palin. I've noticed the grooming and the canned commentary. I don't know what's going on with the woman anymore. The 'real American' act. Something makes me think she's being used.

For a long time I wrote that as "tow the line." While I'm not one of the fellas concerned much with grammar (obvious) -- I even corrected people on a few occasions who - correctly - wrote it as 'toe..'.

 

The burden of shame is not an easy one to bear.

I feel your pain. But as a member of the liberal elite I feel I have a duty to spell properly. We are victims who have been unfairly targeted by the media. But do we retreat? Hell no. We reload. We keep grammar in the crosshairs. Our fingers are on the trigger. Lock and load you betcha. If Sarah becomes president I believe spelling can only improve across this great nation. It's a miracle!!!

I can't see anything like that happening with SarahPAC or the Tea Party. They are polite civilized people happy to toe the party line.

I can't see them nominating her. Not if they want to win. It will have to be a moderate. But she'll demand a price.

If we can put the Arizona shootings aside for a moment I'd genuinely like your opinion on something. I know Palin's pro-Israel credentials are impeccable but was the blood libel comment a good tactical move or not? I'm assuming she plans to run in 2012.
