  1. The robots may be designed by a few engineers in Silicon Valley, but will assuredly be built by thousands of workers in China.

What will 320 million Americans do when even the lowest forms of manual labor are outsourced?

    Print more food stamps.

  2. When my daughter was born, my wife and I decided to name her Michelle*. We went to the amphur office with the certificate from the hospital and politely told the fat gay imbecile behind the counter our little five-day-old princess would be named Michelle*. He went on a rampage.

Wagging his finger in my wife's face and yammering on for 20 minutes about Thai law. We sat and smiled and insisted her name is Michelle*. He angrily tore through a stack of books looking for the law, demanding that name simply wouldn't do. "Take her somewhere else if you don't want to giver her a Thai name," he insisted. "This is Thailand!" My wife and I sat there quietly as the fat queer stormed off to lunch. It was all rather comical. When he was gone, the other lady behind the counter suggested we go to the amphur in the next town over (the hospital services more than one amphur) and see if we can do better there. So we did -- the only caveat is that they wanted us to giver her a Thai middle name. We hadn't planned on a middle name, but settled for Melissa. (Apparently that's Thai enough -- Malisa.) Thai government at all levels is famous for it's haphazard and slipshod policies. There are several farang-Thai couples with children around us and almost all have kids with Thai names.

    * not her name, but something similarly benign and unoffensive.

I recall another country (Sweden or Norway, I think) that requires children names conform to a certain code. Another ridiculous anachronism.

  3. "Ghetto America. And it's getting worse. Ain't diversity great?"

This statement alone reveals your bigotry.

It reveals my opinion. Nothing more. Multiculturalism has failed Europe and is failing America. Diversity for diversity's sake is a non-starter. Read SCOTUS' Clarance Thomas. America is failing its children, failing its elderly, failing its future. It has become ashamed of its proud past and is busy rewriting history to create new heroes -- pure fiction. It's shameful that anyone might consider the new generation of squeegee men on 37th and Lexington as progress. I am not proud of America and what its become -- a ghetto.

  4. More racial stereotyping and bigotry, King Kung.

How is a first hand testimonial stereotyping or bigoted? I'm not relating a story I heard or that I assume to be true. Sorry my reality doesn't fit within your constrained PC prism. Open your eyes, you'll be surprised at what you see.

  5. So far, I'm willing to give the coup makers (yes it's a coup) a break.

Sure the measures they've taken thus far have been soft. I'm ready to give them credit.

I never thought I'd say this, but they might make a difference. If the military can clean up its image they might be able to put a dent in corruption. Close down all the nasty police nonsense. That is Thailand's biggest problem -- police. When nobody respects anything, chaos ensues. Nobody respects the police because they don't respect anybody -- nor the law.

It'll take 150 years to fix, but you have to start somewhere.

  6. Mike Benthins works as a "squeegee man" on East 37th Street near the corner of Lexington Avenue. They were the ultimate symbol of the lawlessness and blight of the 1980s and early 1990s — and now they’re making a comeback.

Squeegee men are menacing motorists across New York City, including spots near the Holland, Lincoln and Queens-Midtown tunnels, as well as the Queensboro Bridge, The Post has learned.

Residents and drivers who pass through the areas said the panhandlers are spraying and wiping windshields without permission to shake down drivers for cash.

Their sudden return is an ominous sign according to the proven “broken windows†theory that has kept the city safe by having cops crack down on minor offenses to prevent bigger, violent crimes.

Ghetto America. And it's getting worse. Ain't diversity great? I was a child in the early 70s when my father would drive me into NYC. The lumbering Negroes (yes they were always black) would either spit on your windshield and offer to clean it off, or merely act unsolicited and demand payment. It's this sort of simian behavior I cannot tolerate. It's no surprise this sort of deviant behavior is making a comeback.

  7. He is an embarrassment to Americans everywhere.

He was elected to (ironically) get the monkey off of America's back. He was merely black enough to assuage liberal white guilt. I've had elementary school social studies teachers more qualified than Barry Sotero. But that's what they wanted -- they deserve what they've chosen. I'll have no part of it.

  8. King Kung's attempt to make this defeat in retrospect a kind of victory, is a laughingstock, is an absolute joke.

It is beyond ridiculous to frame such a specious argument of pick-up lounge clientele demographic change as a "loss" or a "victory." Maybe the term "crushing defeat for the Americans" gives you a thrill up your spine. I would suggest Americans haven't considered Thermae a destination for nearly two decades. Maybe the Germans like 'em old and leathery. You can have mine.

(with losses like this who needs victories?) :hubbahubba:

This fact remains: we have lost a fat pasture.

Who is "we?" I thought it was a crushing defeat for the Americans. :dunno:

  9. An "easy" society accustomed to being shafted by Nanny is prime target. SpiceMan is not wrong in his assessment of the software. He's wrong in that nobody dares tinker with it. Brit banks know what they're doing and they're taking your money. British banks are the biggest thieves on the planet --but many Brits accept it as normal.

The other side of the coin -- most other countries find Thai banks far inferior to their national banks. Argue if you like. It's my opinion.

Mass Theft On Train With 'Ladies-Only' Sleeping Car

SONGKHLA - Passengers on a southbound train were reportedly robbed in their sleep just metres away from the lady-only car installed in the wake of a deadly rape on the same rail route last month.

The incident took place at around 3 am on Thaksin (southbound) Express Train no. 37, which was traveling from Bangkok to Narathiwat province this morning, police said.

According to Pol.Col. Witset Ketpan, deputy commander of Thai Railway Police, nine passengers said they lost their phones and cash in the theft. 30 passengers were in the car at the time, Pol.Col. Wiset said, adding that the perpetrator managed to remove sim cards from all the victims' phoens and left them behind, in order to avoid tracking from the police.

"I believe the thief was on the same car," Pol.Col. Wiset said.

Seems the security is working well .... for the thieves.
