jasmine
[color:"red"] "Have you ever met a Thai woman who wanted to work in a brothel in Australia or Germany or wherever?" Sadly, a few. However, I do admire their hoesty. However, I have no respect for some Thai women who will do, say anything to get Western men to marry so they can go to wherever the countries are to start new lives. jasmine
[color:"red"] You'd better talk to some Thai embassy staff AP, and you would see how big a problem this is. They are stuck with desperate girls trying to get home. I want to stress that these women who get to the embassies are LUCKY ones. Only last Christmas, I was told about 3 girls in Canada, mind you, good old country like Canada. I and many people (mostly Americans) helped the Thai consulates in Germany by letting some of the women stay in our houses before figuring out how to get them back to Thailand, a few times. Most of the time the plane tickets money was from donation from Americans working at that time (like me) in Germany. The embassies do not have enough budget for such needs. A Thai woman just wrote ( a writer, she is in Norway) in a magazine, about several Thai women who were in bad shape there. Sadly, many of them are legally married but got themselves into some terrible situations. What she said interesting was that some of these women knew and wanted to be prostitutes but thought that it was as easy as prostitution in Thailand. Many of them keep on going back to these countries, though, she wrote. Jasmine
Guest
"CBK, You're right, there's girls out there, and each one is one too many, that didn't want this situation. However, Wonderlust's statement is hilarious. " That sums it up
adikgede
It isn't necessarily bullshit. The story is usually that they get beaten, drugged and raped and threats are made against their families (go to the police and we'll kill your mother etc) until they lose the will to resist so just accept their fate. -wonderlust However, Wonderlust's statement is hilarious. -limbo "..However, Wonderlust's statement is hilarious.." That sums it up -AmoresPerros Hilarious? Because you don't beleive it or because you find amusement in someone elses suffering? Certainly not every women who becomes a sex worker is socialised this way but this is a common enough practice for sex workers who have been moved across international borders. Guest
here's Wonderlust statement: "Have you ever met a Thai woman who wanted to work in a brothel in Australia or Germany or wherever" Than U come up with: "Hilarious? Because you don't beleive it or because you find amusement in someone elses suffering" Yes, I sometimes find amusement in others' suffering. And I find Ur statement hilarious as well. I DID meet quite a few thai birds willing to work in a brothel overseas, as have most of people not blind nor deaf who've been hanging out with thai hookers, but that's nothing to with enjoying it or not. What of some of U guys are on is beyond me... Does "obtuse" ring a bell?

I agree, "ignore" is a good button Akikgede, to remind others it is found if you click on the posters name. Useful indeed! Can save a lot of frustration from reading intended wind-ups Cheers! <CBK, sure to be ignored from some>
Guest
OH: Yes, it comes back to what I said before. Although there are legitimate cases, often (mostly??) it's like not knowing it was rape until the check bounces. In this case, they did not "realize" they were enslaved until the cops showed up.
