I understand it is being held this year from the 14th-22nd October, is this correct? What is the general format of the festival? I have already been advised to wear ear-plugs for protection from the fire-crackers!!! Guest Posted September 29, 2004 Report Share Posted September 29, 2004 what you will see is lotsa people in trance sticking all sorts of stuff from needles and spears up to bycycles through their skin, ending as far as i know in a firewalk. the whole things originates in the south indian hindu cult for one of lord shiva's sons (can't recall the name right now, not ganesha though).
