Guest
Agreed that Biscotti and Zanotti's are the two best for European food. Also, very good is the Mayflower at the Dusit for Chinese. A more relaxed but still pretty good restaurant is Zanzibar and down the road from there is a nightclub called the Q-bar which is respectable. lembeh
Hi Old Asia Hand Thanks for the suggestion. I probably should have been a bit clearer originally, and would not go for a Chinese restaurant (good Chinese meals are a bad idea unless there are a group of you, say minimum 4 or 5). Thai is a possibility - but hey, not too exciting for me!! French, "European" or Italian will hit the spot excellently for the lady concerned. The french Bistro restaurant sounds especially good. I know the lady loved the Vietnamese restaurant on soi 23 where we went a year or so ago, (although not what I would consider expensive), but it has such a great atmosphere and service. Food and ambience are the two most important considerations.... again, thanks to all for the suggestions.. -j-
lembeh
Just a quick note to say thanks to Old Asia Hand...we went to Phillipes. Great evening, great food. Pretty good house wine. Has a nice ambience and definately worth a visit. Cost a little bit over 4K, but definately worth it... (and sorry guys, definately *not* the place to take bg's...). -josh-
OldAsiaHand
Thought you'd like it, and I'm glad you did. Philippe's house wine choices are a definite bonus: always pretty good, never what you'd expect them to be, and by Thai standards at least, very reasonably priced. Guest
Co Van My, I feel your pain. I have never been in that exact situation but yet all of us men have. Where do you cross the threshold of "what do you think we are just friends? I don't take Jim and Bob out for $500 nights". But you still want to remain classy and let these women know you are not a cheeseball. However, I think that there is a certain point where the cards need to be placed on the table-face up for all to see-including her. I think I would have ascertained right from the beginning what this was all about. Hey, are you married what are you actually looking for? ETC That way if she gets pissed, DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE DEALING WITH HER ANYWAY? Being that she is akin to royalty status going out with her being a perfect gentleman etc., may have opened a few doors for you. But given the scope of Thailand and what you may have been there to do and the fact that she probably was being tailed and you too for some time without her or with her-she probably knows what you are up to. Bottom line if you were spending all of that money, and with her being rich then chances are she wanted you to wine and dine her and ask for the PANTIES! What have you got to loose but ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY MORE DOLLARS??? Any one dissent, concur? LOS in September (hopefully) Mykal
luckyfarang
Co Van My has already posted that he is not looking for a relationship or bed partner and is obviously "dating" this woman for friendship, a little social climbing, or just to see how the other half lives. Nothing wrong with that. Yes it is expensive, but also voluntary. Even if the woman wanted to sleep with him, I'm sure she wouldn't be indiscreet enough to let her chauffeur find out about her tryst. I suspect that his lady would even like to pay some of the time, but deems it improper. It might give the impression that he was a paid escort. Co_Van_My
Thanks, Luckyfarang. Couldn't have said it better myself! Co Van My
