zanemay
Well, I have been studying Thai mostly on my own for several months. I have books and tapes. I have a pretty large vocabulary and I can put sentences together, but one thing has illuded me. I cannot pronouce the letter "Ngaw Ngu" (snake.) Any hints? I have friends help me and every once in awhile they say I did it. But I really have no confidence when I try to say the words for work or for money. For money I just say "sadtang." This letter is used A LOT so I need to get it. Thanks, Zane
Guest
I've been practising on and off for years but my pathetic attempts to perfect it still raise a few giggles. The most common method I've seen (although based upon my efforts, not too successful) is to choose an English word ending with "ng", repeat it over and over, gradually cutting out the start of the word until you end up with just the "ng", then keep repeating that while you've got it. Hopefully there's a kind, fluent, Thai speaking teacher out there who can enlighten us both with something better
