zen4dummies
It is Open Season at my health insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and I am seriously thinking of adding my wife and step-daughter. Has anyone had any experience with the Thai 30 baht plan? I think that it is only for emergencies. I am not sure how this will interact with my BCBS plan or even what the 30 baht health plan is. Thank for any info. zen
Flashermac
You mean Thaksin's 30 baht idea? I didn't think that was still around. I recall many hospitals opting out of it, since they were losing a fortune. Problem was that Takkie didn't adequately finance it, just said it had to be accepted. http://www.bangkokpost.com/lite/news/274430/yingluck-vows-feasibility-study-into-30-baht-scheme
cavanami
If you are over 60 and a farang working in LOS, you are not eligible for it. If this 30 Baht hospital care was such a great thing, I would think the private hospitals would be out of business but not so. Plenty of Thais in the private hospitals paying the full cost themselves. Heard many Thais say, the medicine given for the 30 Baht is crap! If you want to die, use the 30 Baht program!! Flashermac
Among those that dropped out ... Sirirat Hospital! Thammasat University hospital dropped out too. They were trying to treat people equally, no matter what they received in return - and were losing hundreds of millions of baht. Even provincial hospitals were saying they could no longer afford to treat people under the programme. It was as if Obama had rammed Obamacare through and insisted that hospitals and doctors had to treat people at their own expense,
zen4dummies
Thanks guys. I will not be mentioning any Thai insurance on whatever insurance claims that I make for the wife and daughter. I appreciate the info. Now if someone can tell me how to make the carriage return work on Thai360 my day will be complete. zen
