Flashermac
Talented Thai contemporary dancer and choreographer Pichet Klunchun today receives the insignia of Chevalier of Arts and Letters from Thierry Viteau, the French ambassador to Thailand, on behalf of the French Minister of Culture and Communication. Pichet receives the honour at Chulalongkorn University's theatre tonight after he performs in "Loss", a collaboration with the French company A.lter S.essio, as part of Thai-French cultural festival La Fete 2014. In the ranking of France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters), which honour significant contributions in the arts and literature, "chevalier" is a rank that translates as "knight". Thais previously honoured with the chevalier rank include World Film Festival of Bangkok director Kriangsak "Victor" Silakong, filmmaker Pen-ek Ratanaruang, dramatist Patravadi Meejudhon and Achara Techapaiboon of the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra. The next highest rank is "officier", an honour held by Prof Apinan Poshayanda of the Culture Ministry and filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul. HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana held the highest decoration, the Commandeur of Arts and Letters. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/life/Dancer-Pichet-Klunchun-knighted-by-French-30235995.html
