Raddemo,

I was reasonably aware, I'd done a lot of reading prior to my

trip (classics like Stickman and Private Dancer and many posts

here and elsewhere). But being confronted face to face with

their attitudes, views, mentality was still a big eye opener,

no amount of theory can adequately prepare you for the reality.

It was fascinating. And I'm not talking only about bar girls,

I spent two weeks in smaller towns meeting people, stayed in

their homes, observed how they live and tried to understand

them.

And thank you (and everybody else) for positive comments.

I expected my story would be judged as rather boring compared

to many other excellent posts, especially as I started with

2 or 3 pages and ended with 10.

Great Story!

It was a great juxtoposition on farang and Thai bar girl culture. I wonder if you were conscience of the cultural nuances while you were writing it. If you were, then I love your subtlety and it truely is an excellent story. If not, then when you re-read it you will discover a lot of things that separate us from them in terms of mentality.

There is nothing like a great newbie report to remind you that you are farang and they are Thai, and sometimes the mentality is like night and day.

Late,

Raddemo
