  1. People are getting too complacent IMO. More fear needed. Time for total nudity at airports....and that includes brown people and the ones wearing funny clothes.
  2. I don't trust most of the grannies these days either. Look at Code Pink! And terrorists think nothing of blowing their kids up. I'd like to see politicians taking more of a lead.
  3. He's a congressman why didn't he take charge? He should have complained at the time. Or maybe just tackled the raghead and pulled his funny clothes off.
  4. Not completely. These people stand for election and I guess we have to vote for somebody. Then we get stuck with them. We're allowed to bitch about it but basically we just suck it up.
  5. People get the government they deserve.
  6. Unfortunately not. At great personal expense Donald Trump will be hiring a team of forensic experts to verify the authenticity of the 'birth certificate'. http://www.theonion.com/articles/trump-unable-to-produce-certificate-proving-hes-no,20250/
  7. I was there in the sixties myself. Drove a VW from Europe to Goa....yes I was one of those. Afghanistan was bloody amazing....nice people too.
  8. Didn't he get staked out on an anthill?
  9. Spot on. Only now it's US drones instead of British cavalry and Indian sepoys.
  10. That's 3 days old already Steve. NATO and the rebels are pushing on to Tripoli. If they win Sarkozy and Obama will be heros.
  11. I just try to keep up but I don't think I have any kind of edge. The world looks more and more like a runaway train and we're all on it.
  12. Just me and a few others I think.
  13. Perceptive viewers can see past the bias in any news networks.
  14. Hillary wakes up... >A decade ago the U.S. government attacked Al-Jazeera as a propagator of anti-American propaganda. Now Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is citing the network for fine news coverage — and tweaking the U.S. media in the process. The Arab broadcaster says it's ready to take advantage of what it considers a major boost in its acceptance in the United States. Clinton, on the week many U.S. television outlets were preoccupied by the spectacle of actor Charlie Sheen, suggested during testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that American networks were falling behind in the competition for information. Al-Jazeera has been a leader in changing people's minds and attitudes, Clinton told lawmakers Wednesday. "Like it or hate it, it is really effective," Clinton said. "In fact, viewership of Al-Jazeera is going up in the United States because it is real news."< http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ap_on_en_ot/us_clinton_media
  15. Actually you don't need one. Or just make something up. Seriously, I think you would enjoy Facebook. Renew old friendships etc.
  16. I think you should join Facebook Mekong. You'd be great.
  17. Don't forget prosthetic limbs Hugh. Big money in that.
  18. Arabic could be useful for things like enhanced interrogation too.
  19. Unhappy Hubert. A New York college student who claims a Las Vegas hooker did not spend enough time making him happy has sued her escort service for $1.8 million. Unhappy customer Hubert Blackman said he was traumatized by the "tragic event," especially when he called cops and they threatened to bust him, the Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday. "I also would like to get my $275 payment back and a $1.8 million verdict for the tragic event that happened," Blackman said in the suit filed in Manhattan Federal Court, the paper said. Blackman was staying at the Stratosphere on Dec. 17 when he called Las Vegas Exclusive Personals to hire a stripper. Blackman said the woman performed a lap dance for $155 and a sex act for another $120. Instead of staying for the agreed-upon one hour, she left after just 30 minutes. The hapless tourist called to demand some of his money back. Then he called cops, who told him he could face arrest because prostitution is illegal in Sin City. Blackman told the newspaper the stripper solicited the sex act and he was unaware prostitution was illegal in Vegas. http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/01/21/2011-01-21_college_student_files_suit_for_18m_after_he_says_las_vegas_hooker_didnt_spend_en.html
  20. At least the governor has come up with something Jews and Muslims can agree on. That ain't easy.
  21. Piers Morgan was talking about it. He says if you drive an Aston Martin in the UK you have a good chance of someone throwing a brick at you whereas in the US people stop and say nice wheels.
  22. It's more than that I think. Brits find Americans boastful but they are mostly too polite to say anything. And a lot of Brits hate success. Did you see Rick Gervais hosting the Golden Globes? A lot of his jokes bombed....probably would have been better suited to a British audience. http://primetime.tv.yahoo.com/
  23. Are the Brits miffed? I get the impression anti-American sentiment is pretty strong there already below the surface. The special relationship may be a figment of some speech writer's imagination.
  24. Maybe. Interesting argument going on at the moment. Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles says the British army is there because they enjoy it, to redeem their honour after leaving Basra, and because they would face cutbacks otherwise. Sir Richard Dannatt finds his comments insulting. http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/73735,people,news,two-knights-at-war-over-disgraceful-afghan-story-
  25. Don't know about landmines but I suspect Obama's remarks to Sarkozy are part of the Lebanon plan. Somebody is trying to get a civil war going there and French help is needed.
