  1. Was chatting to a Cook Islands lady the other night at my local. She continually kept punching me in the arm :dunno:

A sign of affection perhaps ?

I think it dates back to their heritage as cannibals. By punching your arm she is checking the quality of the meat. If the lady was the one in the picture that would be OK

  2. Having retired and being 60 (ok just recently 61) I have more time to exercise, plus, living in Thailand the smaller helpings are better for me. Have lost about 5 kilos, but, more important to me, have lost a lot of fat. Renotched the belt a couple times, the face is more craggy (never was much to look at anyway), and the man boobs have shrunk. Never had a big gut, and, while more of a squeeze, can still fit into pants when I was 40 and very active, but that squeeze has been getting worse lately. Will never be confused for a male model (for a lot of reasons!!) but for my, and mrs m's sake, want to keep things in control.

Currently just arrived back in the states for a visit. The favorite restaurants, and their favorite dishes, are still there but where I used to eat the whole serving can only do half now before overloading. May not last if here for a long time, but so far so good!!

  3. In my younger days, the MP gals would often remark on how slender and fit I was, not an ounce of fat anywhere on me. I stayed at my army weight until I turned 50 ... and then something terrible happened! :elephant:

Nowadays, I gain weight if I just look at a picture of food. I've been too embarrassed to go to an MP ever since that happened. :(

Yep, used to keep my weight well and, for those times I did overindulge, a 1/2 boiled chicken and a bowl of peas for dinner set me right after a few days.

Now I gain weight with 1/2 boiled chicken and peas

    F***in metabolism!!

  4. Direct quote from the article

"Jose said he shook hands with the lead agent, then asked him for a warrant to enter and search the building. The ICE agent handed Jose some papers.

“And I was just scanning for the word judge,†Jose said. “I was making sure that it came from a court and was actually signed by a judge.â€

Immigration agents often use what’s called an administrative warrant, but only a judge’s signature gives them legal permission to search private property.

Jose knew what to look for, and he handed the papers back.

“I'm sorry,†he told the agents. “In order for me to let you enter the premises, I need to see a warrant signed by a judge."

After some back and forth, the agents returned to their cars.

Jose said they left him with this warning: “We're just going to stay out here all day, and we're going to pick up anybody that comes in or leaves the property."

Sorry I missed that, should drink coffee before reading, thanks for pointing that out!!

  5. It's interesting the article makes no mention of the unsigned warrant. That can get cops in a lot of trouble. ICE, as part of customs and homeland security, I believe, have broader powers of entering, and examining, property than cops.

  6. I'm lucky in that I have no problem finding work for 2 months a year (That's all I want). I could find more, but not interested. Even luckier my son bought my company so I can go work with him.

At the company I (well now my son) has an 86 year old working. He is extremely sharp mentally but a little slow physically. During our real busy season he works 7 days a week, about 6 hours a day, sometimes more. He doesn't need the money, I tell him he does it so he doesn't have to spend time with his wife, he has not disagreed with me.
