OK, I'll bite. Was it the warm beer served by CE or the indifferent attitude of the stewardesses? I had 4 months from booking to the actual flight to read every negative review of CE (the positive reviews stated that you get what you pay for). I'll admit that I don't like flying through Chinese airspace and didn't appreciate the Chinese person behind me on the flight from Chiangmai to Hunan clearing his throat every 3 minutes and then spitting in a bag. From what I understand, CE customer service is crap, whether you have to call them or deal with them at the airport. Fortunately, there were no problems on my flight, so I had no dealing with them. Besides, the more money that I saved went into repairs at my Chiangmai house, which is the reason that I've gone back 3 times in the last 4 years. The house is now rented, so it's no longer a money pit for me.
A combination of the bad service and the connection. My MIL lives, and travels, with us. At the airports we use a wheelchair since her walking is limited. At Guanzhou (sp) an attendant Got her, wheeled her up to the second floor and left her. We waited until it was getting close to flight time, nothing. Found an area where CE people were working but no english and all ignored us. Eventually I found someone who got us to the flight barely on time. The airport is crap too!!

We like Eva a lot. If close to good price we always take it, and use their premium economy, I am not small so the extra space/leg room is welcome. We have usually found China Air a good price and no complaints, their premium economy also good.
China Eastern we tried once due to low price, never again for many reasons!!

Interesting the comments on St Louis. I have a few friends who swear by them. All had major work done and were real happy with the bill and service

Back in the days I went bar shopping it seemed OK to ask if the person was originally a Lady, or not, and you used to get a straight answer. Sounds like these days maybe not

Always enjoyed your columns, and site, and you helped me out when first coming to LOS with good advice.
Am a binge reader so catch up on a month, or two, at a time, always good.
Good Luck with anything you attempt.

I took both my kids, while they were learning to drive, out early on weekend mornings to the local mall (this was in the states). We practiced parking, tight turning, etc. That, and on the street learning, made them good drivers. Maybe no malls near you, but any big shopping centers?

I looked out of my window in horror yesterday as a crowd gathered around a crashed motorcyclist.
I rushed outside yelling "Let me through, let me through"
A man at the front said "Thank God for that, are you a Doctor"?
I said "No, that's my Pizza"

We'll demand the resignation of a government, if a group of mothers feel that one of their precious angels, was slighted or insulted in the playground.
Same would happen in the states today. When I was a kid I climbed a tree at school, fell out, and dented my skull. My parents, rightfully IMHO, apologized to the school for the inconvenience of ambulances and they dented me some more when I got home.

Looks a little scary. Now if she suggested death by too much head.....

Flew them a few years back from Los Angeles to BKK through Guangzhou.
Never again! Seats uncomfortable, service nil. Guangzhou was a nightmare. My mother in law, who lives and travels with us, was wheeled into a isolated corner and left there for a couple hours (insert MIL joke here). As our connecting flight time approached we tried to make contact but was ignored. Finally I pushed the barriers aside and wheeled her to our connecting gate.
But, of course, others mileage may vary!!

I thought the Kingdom did away with capital punishment, but the wife said when premeditated it can still be used. Be interesting to see what happens. Personally, from what I have seen, there is no remorse being shown.

There is a few vendors that come to a saturday market at the Dahnsinkohn border, Prachuap Khiri Khan. A friend was down from Chiang Mai and bought a lot of furniture there saying even with shipping the cost was less than CM

Subject: I turned over my golf cart
While golfing, I accidentally overturned my golf cart.
A very attractive golfer, who lived in a villa on the golf course, heard the
noise and called out, "Are you okay?"
"I'm okay thanks," I replied as I pulled myself out of the twisted cart.
She said, "Come up to my villa, rest a while, and I'll help you get the cart
up later." I noticed her silky bathrobe was partially open, revealing what
appeared to be a very nice figure.
"That's mighty nice of you," I answered, "but I don't think my wife would
like it."
"Oh, come on now " she insisted.
She was so pretty, and very, very persuasive.
I was weak. "Well okay," I finally agreed.
After a couple of Scotch and waters, I thanked her and said, "I feel a lot
better now. But I know my wife is going to be really upset. So I'd better go
now."
"Don't be silly!" she said with a smile, letting her robe fall slightly more
open. "Stay for a while. She won't know anything. By the way, where is she?"
I replied, "Still under the cart, I guess".
