  1. Coss, Australia might bowl England out tomorrow for another 50 runs, but if not then England will eventually declare (they have to) perhaps when they reach 400 (a 340 lead). Australia have to bat again or else as Dumsoda says it'll be a draw. A draw is no good as if Australia then win the last test and draw the series they retain The Ashes. Anyway if England were to declare at 400 there is little chance of the Aussies scoring 340.

  2. Mona Lisa (1986)

Starring: Bob Hoskins, Kathy Tyson, Michael Caine, Robbie Coltrane

IMDB - "George has just been released from prison, and manages to get a job driving a call girl from customer to customer. Initially they don't get on; he doesn't fit in with the high class customers Simone services. Will they ever get on?"

Thought I would have seen it before but apparently not! An oldie but a goldie.

  3. 4th Test. Trent Bridge. Day 1. England win the toss and elect to field.

    4-1 (Rogers 0)

    10-2 (Smith 4)

    10-3 (Warner 0)

    15-4 (Shaun Marsh 0)

    21-5 (Voges 1)

    29-6 (Clarke 10)

    33-7 (Nevill 2)

    46-8 (Starc 1)

    47-9 (Johnson 13)

    60-10 (Lyon 9)

Australia all out for 60!! in 18.3 overs.

    Broad 8-15!!

At time of posting England were 61-2 in reply.

"18.3 overs is the quickest any team has ever been bowled out in the first innings of a Test match."

  4. As I haven't been in LOS since early January 2015 and, because I tend to spend quite a lot of time on this soi, I was just wondering what's happening on Soi 22?

Last time I was there both the restaurants on the ground floor of The Regency Park Hotel (Cheers and Som's) were closed. Has anything new opened up?

Also the Citrus Hotel was still closed. Has it reopened?

Has any construction work started on the old Washington Square site?

    Have any new bars opened?

  5. Moonlighting (1982)

Starring: Jeremy Irons, some Polish blokes

IMDB - "A Polish contractor, Nowak, leads a group of workmen to London so they can provide cheap labor for a government official based there. Nowak (Irons) has to manage the project and the men as they encounter the tempations of the West and loneliness and separation from their families. Nowak is the only one of the group who speaks English, and he uses this as a tool over his team. When the unrest in Poland leads to a military takeover, Nowak is faced with a much more difficult situation than he expected."

I was surprised by this film, as I really enjoyed it!

  6. From what Flash posted Clause 1 intimates "Boundary Line" and not Enterance

Thanks. So I'm thinking about Soi 22 and those two schools opposite each other about a third (?) of the way up the soi. 300m either side of them will, according to this law, be booze free and although Queens Park Plaza will be safe there must be quite a few small bars and restaurants within that catchment? If I was in Bkk I'd get my ruler out and check.

  7. Where will the distance of 300m be measured from? From the front entrance of the school/uni would seem logical as that is where the students enter and exit from. But what about measuring the 300m from the closest point of the boundary of the school/uni? I mean a bar could be 500m away from the entrance but only 100m away from the boundary? No doubt this won't be clarified.

  8. " Khaosan Road, a favorite party destination for foreign backpackers, is less than 300 meters from Satri Witthaya School, and the notorious red light district of Patpong is less than 300 meters away from Chulalongkorn University. "

"As written and enacted under the military government’s special “Section 44†powers, the ban is for all alcohol sales – shopping malls, pubs, restaurants and everything – within 300 meters of schools. The only exemptions are for registered hotels and government-designated entertainment zones such as Patpong, Royal City Avenue-upper Thonglor, and that stretch of big box clubs on Ratchadapisek Road.
