1. It was on the radio that for every dollar California spends, the state has only 78 cents. They claimed California is running with the greatest deficit and Arizona is right behind California.

If both states should file bankruptcy they both can dump their employee retirement and benefit plans saving both states a lot of money.

  2. Old Hippie, I know you and HH want to make things difficult and expensive but don't you agree if the Border Patrol was pulled back to the border and made to patrol the border, the job could be done without any extra expenses?

Or would you like to see the border mined, drones armed with missiles flying within 500 miles from the border looking for drug suspects, illegals, etc.?

Sounds what you are proposing is very similar to '1984' or 'Brave New World'.

  3. Many a time here I have proposed land mines along the border. Much cheaper than a fence or hiring border patrol officers. And much more of a deterrent' date=' I would think. A few warning signs posted about every 40 or 50 miles apart along the border just to give wannabe wets fair advance notice of what might await them.

Being some of the rivers in Arizona flow north and we haave each year monsoons, I guess you would volunteer to tell the parents of the children who get blown up from your land mines that they died from your policies?

You have said this in 2 different threads now...what exactly do you mean? so what about the rivers...small patrols can handle that. The idea is you close off as much of the border as you can, and then concentrate on the few holes remaining. Trust me, it works.

If a mine ends up in a river, how is a patrol going to stop a mine that is being pushed by water northward when the water can easily push a car? Some people who have been caught up by the water don't show up for years. How is a patrol going to find such a mine or mines? And who is liable when one goes off?

Clearly you know less than I thought, so much for giving you the benefit of the doubt...Land mines on land, hence the term LAND mine...now you will say "what if..." and to that I say "what if back..." Your ignorance of munitions is blinding, so best you not comment on it. A small land mine in the water moving around would either go inert, or more likely detonate when it moves...now you know. Of course we could have them all wired, and detonate them if they were no longer needed...but well...why bother explaining this to you...please, do not reply pretending you know something...

Point is, you mine the land (HENCE THE TERM LAND MINE) and you patrol the weak link, the water...it will work and work well, but we will never do it. So don't sweat it, there will always be plenty of illegals for you to love and pay for/deal with...when they rob you, rape yous maybe you'll get a clue.

Gee, I had no idea you knew how things are in Arizona. When we get a down pour, the water carves the land the way she wants to carve it. Lets say you mind a hilltop. The water carves the hilltop and in some cases, carries with it some mines and lays the mines in a new area. Can you guarantee with 100% certainty that when the water first moves the mine(s) it will detonate?

  4. If the borders do get mined then it means we are under marshal law. I don't think even HH would want that.

I do know of one person who hates Mexicans so much he would prefer marshal law if it means killing a few Mexicans.

  5. Using mines would be a military act and that can only happen if we are under martial law. We probably would be in trouble with International law if we use mines.

No shit ... pretty sure the US is amongst several countries who have agreed not to use landmines again.

Love it when people from a country pioneered by immigrants start talking about closing the borders. Better chhange the sign on the sstatue while you're at it.

We had this kind of boarder within Germany: Patrols' date=' German shepards, razor wire, spring guns, guard towers, e.g.

[b']This kind of border is mostly used by dictatorships...

    No problem for HH.

I guess illegal immigration will become a capital crime.

Once the southern border is mined, then they will mine the northern border. Canada will really like that.

Next they will have to mine the west coast followed by the east coast.

But then, wouldn't it me more simpler to have the Border Patrol patrol the border instead of the country?

  6. Using mines would be a military act and that can only happen if we are under martial law. We probably would be in trouble with International law if we use mines.

I know you and HH don't want to hear this, but why can't the Border Patrol patrol only the border instead of the country?

  9. Recently I found some 19th century IRS records to browse through. I was startled to see how much the tax men ripped off my gg grandfather and his father in 1864-65. The Union Army had stolen all of their horses and mules, then IRS taxed them on the buggies and farm wagons after they had no animals left to pull them. One great uncle even got taxed on his piano! Interesting to see the Feds haven't changed in 150 years. They are still evil thieves. :hmmm:

Did he ever get paid for the stolen horses?

They even taxed the money. With the Chinesee, they even taxed their opium (opium tins).

As for horses, when people reached their destination, if it was a town or city, they generally sold their horses. And who was one of the persons who bought the horses - the tax man (the sheriff or marshal).

  10. Yeah well keep up with the partisan stuff if it makes you happy Hugh. Your team control Congress now. You got your tax break. Now let's see some serious spending cuts that won't create more unemployment.

Surprising, in the old days, 1880's, the rich got taxed like everybody else based upon what they possessed.

You own a lot, you got taxed a lot.

  11. For gold to rise, the dollar would probably have to become more worthless.

During the Civil War, silver was at its highest during the 1800's. After the war it dropped to barely over $1.00.

During the depression, silver became almost worthless - about 25 cents.

  12. Under Sarah there will be no taxation and no social programs. Education will be cut back except for bible studies. Government will become unnecessary. Everybody will be free to shoot immigrants and caribou.

Being Sarah can see Russia from her back porch, only gives more credenance to ocean front property sales in Arizona.

According to Sarah, China is the largest country in the world.

The USA is larger then Canada.

    need we say more?

  13. ....and so is the nut who shot her.

Loughner is Jewish because he has a Jewish mother but he wasn't a practicing Jew. He claimed one of his 20 odd books he liked was Hitler's Mein Kampf. One of his favorite people was Sarah Palin.

Some historians claimed Hitler had some Jewish blood. Does that make him a Jew? Probably.

  14. >>Gabrielle Giffords is Jewish.

.. I don't see how that excuses Palin from trying to make herself a martyr by hijacking a phrase relating to a people who were truly persecuted and maligned.

Sarah used the expression [color:red]"blood libel" which is an old expression used for centuries that perpetuates the belief about the Jews killed Christians for ritualistic purposes. Because of this belief, people have felt justified in spreading anti-Semitism and also massacres of Jews.

To put more salt into the wounds, Gabrielle Giffords is Jewish.

  15. Smoking gun:

Loughner carried around with him a copy of the Constitution to support his ideas

    .

In today's Tucson newspaper it claims Lougher [color:red]'made the last of four visits to the Pima County OneStop Center' last September 29. He brought with him a camera and was filming. He was asked to leave which he responded by pulling out a copy of the Constitution and saying 'It was his right!'.According to the paper, that was [color:red]'the first of two times Loughner was ejected that day of disruptive behavior for his interpretation of the Constitution.'

[color:red]'That evening two Pima Community College police officers delivered a letter to the home Loughner shared with his parents, telling them that he was being suspended from college."

  16.

The Govenor of Arizona has changed her tone and has actually been civil. The Govenor and Giffords were almost mortal enenmies over the SB1070 issue. The Govenor was 100% for SB1070 wereas Giffords was opposed of the issue.

Some have speculated that some of the rantings of the shooter might have been in regards to the illegal immigrant issue. He spoke of 'grammer' and then coupled it that they didn't have much if any grammer which some have speculated was a jab against illegals who have a tendency not to speak English very well.

The Sheriff of Pima County has been taking a lot of heat, most of it out of context. He is another one who is against SB1070. He claims we can't afford it - it cost too much to enforce.

  17. The news in Arizona is about the 9 year old girl that got killed. Her funeral is today and the looneys who protest at soldiers' funerals that the soldier's death was god's revenge, etc. are going to show up at her funeral.

She was born 9/11/2001 - a sad day to be born and a sad day to leave this life.
