Guest
Yes, that's true. It now takes a couple weeks to get a passport issued. Eventually, however, I understand that embassies will be able to issue the newfangled, high security passports themselves.
limbo
Hi PvtDick, just renewned my own passport at the Dutch embassy in BKK. Contacted them before I got there and showed up with the appropiate aperwork and was dealt with in 1o minutes and could pick up the passport a few days later. Very much hasslefree, went prepared however. It is very strange that boemba is not issued with a passport here. Whereever he should come from. Cheers, Limbo
ultras67
Says boemba: (I am a citizen...at the 'heart of Europe') That definately rules out the UK then :: Seems ridiculous, no doubt they will have their own reasons which may or may not be founded in common sense. I got a new UK passport in Sept 02 in bangkok, no problems. Paid the fee, filled in the form, handed my old passport in, then 7 days later picked up the new one with the old one cut at the corner. Only snag is, its not machine readable. But I would imagine that will not cause any problems.
Guest
The U.S. Embassy claims a 5-day (working day?) turnover, at least in theory. I'll get mine renewed this year and will report.
