I like a good bowl of Khao Sawy gai from Chiang Mai, a bowl of lard na anything and fresh larb northern style.

The fresher I had was a few weeks back up in Chiang Mai when the girlfriends cousins and myself killed the pig, butchered it and sent it to be made into fresh larb less than 30 minutes later.

Great stuff!!

Far too many great dishes to list one favourite

Moo manow - Fiery combination of pork, chillies and lemon juice - a great beer snack

Mien Kham - a few different versions of this but basically you make a cone shaped container from a leaf (cant remember which type) and fill it with chillies, chopped shallots, sliced ginger, peanuts and dried shrimp - another great appetiser or snack.

Gai Haw Bai Toey - cubes of chicken wrapped in Pandanas leaves. The leaves impart a very delicate and delicious flavour to the chicken. Dont forget to unwrap the chicken and discard the leaves before you eat!

Panang Gai - Medium hot red curry with peanuts and coconut milk.

Hoy Lai Pat Phet - Fried shellfish (cockles?) in a hot aniseed flavoured sauce

Sai Krawk Isaan - sour sausage seved with chillies, sliced ginger and raw cabbage or iceberg lettuce

Naem - similar to above but is 'slab' shaped - a great street snack

Yam Plaa Duk Foo - crispy fried catfish on a spicy mango salad

Khao Moo Daeng - Chinese style red pork slices on rice with a piquant sauce - served with boiled eggs and spring onions

Yam Pak Kachet - spicy leaf vegetable salad

Gai Pat Met Mamuang - chicken and cashew nuts - usually given a mildly spicy kick by the addition of sliced chinese radish

Pak Kanna Moo Grob - Pak Kanna is a crunchy stalk vegetable and moo grob is crispy fried pork - served with rice

Gai Yang, Somtam Poo and Khao Niow - grilled chicken, spicy papaya salad with crab and sticky rice

Pad Pak Bung - morning glory ( leafy spinach like veg) cooked with oyster sauce.

Yam Pla Muk - spicy squid salad

Yam Wun Sen - spicy glass noodle salad

Tod Man Kung - Fried shrimp patties

Yam Khor Moo Yang Sai Som Oh - Spicy pork (pigs neck) salad - if you can get them to add Som Oh (Pomelo) it is a fantastic dish.

........oh.......and the occasional fur burger :drunk:

Bon Appetite!

Arai wa!
