BrownFox77 Posted July 15, 2001 Report Share Posted July 15, 2001 Just returned from LOS and stayed at the Sunbeam hotel for 1st time (normally stay at the Pattaya Centre), couldn't find any write ups on this hotel before I booked so wanted to leave something here for others... Had a delux rm on the top floor, nice ocean view, room was very clean and "pretty", lots of redwood and all was pretty new and well kept however it was more pretty than functional, i.e. there was no couch, no easy way for you and gf to eat together or even cuddle while watching a movie (except in bed). On the Lanai was pretty noisy with the Sio 8 bars and all but once you closed the door was very quiet. The railing on the lanai was hardly waist high, you could easily while drunk get dizzy and fall right over. The aircon was real bad, I had to buy a fan to stay cool, the water in the pool looked a little like pond scum but they had nice padded lounge chairs for guests. The room service seemed to stop after midnight. Had a great TV with an actual remote (which the Pattaya Centre never had). Had to book as a double else they'll charge you 300 Baht for a guest each time (was 200 Baht/day more for double rate). Was a hassle each time having to show I was registered as a double when I brought a gf home, however staff was very friendly overall. Had a nice size bath tub and shower, however the hot water would violently "gurgle", scaring the Hell out of you and splashing all over at times. The delux room was 2000 Bt/day, and they want you to pay partial or full up front. Oh and the bad aircon wasn't just my room as I had changed to another room which was just as bad. Some people may like this hotel, for me, one of my regular puyings who knew me from previous trips while at the Pattaya Center said it best, "Pattaya Centre better".
