I've always seeming had luck in a family run business near my place, despite the fact that they speak no English. I believe I've fooled them into thinking my Thai is pretty good. Nonetheless, I ran into some trouble today. So I'm including a few helpful words and a question. cawn - hammer lawt fy - light bulbs pong sahm rahp oot roo - putty or patching plaster panang - wall meed pong - putty knife? (it worked but not sure if technically correct) tah sii khao - white paint braank tah sii - paint brush gao - glue Where I fell a bit short was trying to describe 'latex flat white' paint. I kept trying tah sii sahm rahp panang kang ny (white paint for inside walls) but this seemed to fall short. Anyone know the right phrase? I ended up with a small jar of white gloss enamel which was cheap enough to throw the baht at it for a test. Needless to say, my wife was less than helpful for these concepts. "sii phai nai, sii kow" (interior paint, white) "tah sii" is actually the verb to paint. "yahng mai sote" (latex) I'm not sure if this is used in reference to latex paint.
