My insurance here is Fully Comp in Thailand but it does not mention travel abroad Does anyone have any experiences doing this? The way I do it is :- Get yourself down to Sadoa -- drive through the Thai side getting your stamp out -- carry on until the Malaysian border post (pay 3Rinngit , no Baht accepted), get your Malaysian stamp in -- and on the right as you leave the main borderpost you'll see a row of shophouses . About the 4th or 5th one down is a Malaysian insurance agent . Show your car papers and he'll do the rest . B1200 for a weeks insurance and if I remember rightly about B600 for the carnet thingy . Easy !! They'll even give you a road map of the country too if you ask. The other way is slightly cheaper but you need translations etc and I can't be arsed so I've never gone that route . You'll find the Malaysian roads are kept in much better condition than they are here.
