Khun_Kong
Assume that a Thai lady is applying for a US visa and the company that she worked for for 5 years has now closed. Hence, she cannot provide any written proof of employment (has not paid any taxes, either). Has anybody heard of anyplace that can help her get "duplicate" work documents, probably for some fee? Feel free to PM me.
Guest
I believe that the Embassy is interested mostly in current employment, not past employment. The application does ask for details of past employment, but they do not ask for proof. For current employment, you are asked to submit a letter from the employer. If your lady friend is currently unemployed, I don't think details of past employment by a defunct employer -- especially if she cannot provide tax records to back up her claim -- would be of much help. Khun_Kong
Thanks, PD. The lady in question is currently employed, but for less than 3 months. I would think some past history might help her. Perhaps current status will be sufficient.
lembeh
>provide any written proof of employment (has not paid any taxes, either). 90% of Thais do not pay tax. *However* given that she was in regular employment for a company, she should have been *assessed* for tax, and records of that may be with the tax office. -j-
