Pattaya has always had this type of crime. Sometimes more and sometimes less. Now the arrow is up. 5 years ago, it was pretty common to hear that a farang gold or purse had been snatched at the corner of soi 17, and PRS mansion, because that was where people had to slow down on this busy lane. Thais too were robbed but the news is only trumpeted for farangs. Logical, Pattaya mail is written in english.

When i hang out with friend girls, and one has a gold necklace worth the snatching, her friends always tell her she better be careful.

As far as road accidents, well, this is what i have said for months now. Pattaya may be a resort for tourism but it is a big thai city too. It's like if i was crossing some crazy traffic in Paris or SF, relaxed and wearing shorts and tongs. 2 rythms of life running into each other. Boom!!!!!!!!

I still remember the stories from Pattaya: Ladies using K.O.-drops on their nipples and some customers dying from it, many suicides, many tourists dying from overdosis of Viagra....

I think, these stories were on and off during the last years and they will come again. May be, Pattaya is predestined for these things?

I have been reading the P mail for 6 years and the rate of robberies and robberies relating to people jumping out of windows, are on the way up is the because of the lack of tourist visiting or the changes the Pattaya council clean up job on Pattaya, making it hard for the locals to make a living

rarely someone being robbed and jumped
I don't know. I don't recall reading about as many "suicides" of tourists when I was in the U.S., and lets face it, the circumstances surrounding many of the suicides is more than a tad suspicious.

10 000bahts

-----------------

Ho La! How you go. It's 200 bahts fine. And you have to go to the sation to pay it. If any farang has been able to bribe his way out of a helmet fine INSIDE Pattaya, i will be glad to hear it. Usually, there are 2 or 3 cops standing, and they do not ask for a bribe. Other places, you can do (BKK, have no idea, CM is ok, 100 bahts inside passport will/may do)
