My feeling is that for Apple it's usually cheaper outside of Australia providing you're buying a product that's in line with US pricing. Otherwise for PC products I'm not sure. A machine of interest that appears to be cheaper than the US price is the Toshiba Portege M100 with DVD/CD/RW. This looks like a good price in Bangkok. Or there's your staple Compaq Presario line as well. Not having been to Australia for a while I'm out of touch with prices there. I just know that for Apple equipment the stuff is pricey there.
