Guest
Apart from the gamble of scoring a perfect copy of all those cheap DVD's offered by thai entrepreneurs, you find on Sukumhvit Road, a recent post on Australian news advises that any DVD brought into the Country (Australia) is to be confiscated, until its copyright verification can be assessed. If, by chance You have brought the genuine item (at well below usual costs ), you will taxed an additional 10% GST, at the standard recommended price brought, in Australia stores. So, the moral, do not build up the copllection for a return to the land of Oz

steffi
Just exactly how are they going to know what you paid for it? This is a pathetic policy designed to appease the copyright holders who no doubt are throwing a large amount of money in the direction of the current government. Torneyboy
Hi Well they are not doing much about it...at the moment. A staff member of my wifes came back today from BKK with 20 dvds for friends and some for me...no problems at customs. My scale is 1 in 6 dvds are no good...fuzzy sound etc. Overall great value. Guest
Yes Torneyboy, they do not seem to do to much about it. I came back from LOS in June, 2003. I had 52 DVD's (of which, 12 were bums) (Seems, the newer the movie, the more chance of a bad copy). But, the risk is still there. Did your wife declare them? I did not, I took the risk that, well, for value, take the chance. Cheers
Guest
Yes, it is done to appease the copyright holders. In another recent decision, a store owner, who try to sell 9 copied CD's in his petrol station, was fined and had a cost order made against him. The costs were 52,000.00 AUD$. I assume, most were for surveillance costs, and high priced barristers for a local court matter. So, if your intention is to resell, also be very careful. By the way, I do not work for Sony, etc ... I like most, sheme every day to find good paying job in LOS Cheers
