Since our esteemed government introduced this travel tax and deemed that Economy Deluxe class should be at the same rate as Business and First Class (57 GBP), I've always made a point of going through the Express Security channel as I really don't see what else I get for this extortion. So far I've never been rejected. I assume that they just check that its not a standard Economy ticket and let all others through. Then it will put the airlines to the wall, less competition will result in higher prices and less travellers. I don't see a long term business strategy for the "budget" airlines if they implement a significant environmental tax.
