British businessman found shot dead

 

A British businessman was shot dead and his body dumped into a canal in Sattahip district, Chon Buri.

 

Police found the decomposing body in tambon Na Jomthien yesterday after being alerted by a fisherman. Six gunshot wounds were found on the victim's body.

 

The victim was later identified as Robert Herry, 42, a Briton, by his common-law Thai wife Wilai Chiewcharn, 26. Ms Wilai said her husband ran the Siam Air Sport airstrip in Bang Lamung district. He had left his home on Oct 4 and not been seen since. His car was found abandoned in front of a local hotel on Oct 6.

 

Ms Wilai said she had lost contact with him since they were taken to the home of one of his business partners in Na Jomthien area, where the owner gave her four pills. She felt dizzy and returned alone to her house in Pattaya. She said she believed a business conflict might have been the motive.
