Pattaya - Hiring Motorcycles & Insurance

Guest

Recommended Posts

Just returned from my first, of many, visits to Pattaya. Whilst there i hired a Fireblade (Honda CBR 900RR) for a week (that is what i ride here in England)

Can i get insured over here or in LOS to cover me for my next visit? (December) hopefully equivalent to our Fully Comprehensive cover.

Anyone any experience of this?

Thanx in advance.

Garth.

Njoy, Thanks for that, 500 day is very reasonble if the bike in OK cond, most of the hire bikes I have seen are in very dodgy Cond, bent rotors, cracked frames etc, how was your FB? Could you take it anywhere or restricted to Pattaya ? there are some great rides around the coast and to the north and East of Pattaya. Next time yr over, let me know and we will go on a jaunt.

I know this "off topic" a bit , but I restore/love old Vespa & lambretta motor scooters . I know there is aguy in Pattaya who is into this type of thing as well , I saw his picture in a scooter magazine ( with a BG perched pillion on the vespa !! ).

If anyone knows this guy , I would like to talk with him or anyone else that is interested in this type of thing . I love it when in the LOS , scooters everywhere , with a million diferent personal touches , like a nice rust coating usually!!!! smile.gif" border="0

Zoot, Each to his own, dunno how anyone can love a Vespa but then again I dunno how anyone could love me, and millions do (Well ! not quite Millions, but for sure my dog does) Anyway back to your little fetish, there is a shop In China town (believe it or not) that specialises in scooters and the resoration of such and is a hangout for the perverts who like restoring them. Next time your over I will point the way.

well when you are into vespas in a land like Oz,you cop it all the time , this is big bike country, unlike the rest of asia .

Yes, Could imagine how cruel those Ozzies would be. asking you where you stored yr make up bag on it, that sort of thing. But I imagine as they are sort of trendy in a off beat way (Bit like VW Karmann Gia's are now)the Thai's would be into that, so look foward to catching up with you.

Thanx for the info Mr Bastard.

I know the last time i was in LOS i talked to a lot of Thais about this sort of thing , a few of them are into the restoring side of things , rather than the riding to DESTROY the things like most Thais seem to do!There is even a Thai scooter club , for natives mainly I think , if you run into any farang scooter folk let me know.

As for your anti vespa poke , well when you are into vespas in a land like Oz,you cop it all the time , this is big bike country, unlike the rest of asia .

Don't worry I love the big ones too , maybe we can get together when i next come over , end of yearish? smile.gif" border="0

To FatBastard and other Bikers...

Can you recommend any places in Pattaya where expat bikers (non-Harley) hang out?

Also do you know about the Koh Samui ride mid-September? I heard that a lot of farang and thai bikers are going to this bike meet.

Any info? Any group going from Pattaya? cool.gif" border="0

Garth.

Found this in this week's Pattaya mail:

Motorcycle insurance is a vailable

Dear Pattaya Mail,

Regarding the piece in the current Grapevine column about motorcycle insurance, no problem! When I had a 175cc Kawasaki I had a fully comprehensive insurance policy from Jack Levy whose office is above Northern Thai Realty Co. on Second Road opposite the Royal Garden Plaza. I was insured for myself, passenger, pedestrians and property. In the event of theft the bike was insured up to 60% of the cost of a new one. I would suggest a visit to see Jack.

Yours,

Tim
