In my unhumble opinion Jagger is a bloody wanker for accepting that "honour". Is this is that what rock'n'roll is all about, getting knighted at the fag end (sorry for the expression) of your career?? Bugger off. Jagger is a pussycat, always has been. Gimmie Keef anytime, that man has integrity.

Hey Phallus ::

Didnt they actually offer Keef a knighthood at one stage ? I think he was too stoned to know what was going on, and replied with something along the lines of 'Just let me take a piss, and I'll be right with you' when the Palace rang.

I've never really understood the fascination many fans have with the Stones - sure, they were 'bad boys' back when being a 'good boy' meant you were John Lennon (who reportedly got a kick out of urinating on 15-year old groupies : I doubt they included that in his biography...), but I was far more interested in the Blues roots they had shamelessly plundered (along with the Yardbirds and a host of other British bands) than the band themselves. Still, each to their own, and I'd prefer to read about Mick Jagger than Justin Trousersnake and Britney Sneers any day of the week. My main interest in Keef centres around the fact that he is still alive (apparently) when his system should have packed it in at least 30 years ago. They should extract some of the guys DNA, analyse it and try injecting it into AIDS patients - theyll be up and about in no time !

the worst were probably Led Zep.

the Lemon Song was a blatant copy of Robert Johnson and some of their others were.

yook them years to admit to it.

Hi Sayjann,

Led Zep definitely werent alone in this regard, and it really angers me to think that these 'rock Gods' made millions whilst a lot of the old Blues legends died in poverty. It was often the pain of their lives that drove them to create such powerful music, only to have it commercialised by white boys from both sides of the Atlantic. Such is life, I guess, but it still annoys me to hear some prat like Liam Gallagher complain about how tough life is when you have to be true to your art in the face of commercial success.

Led Zep were The Yardbirds in another life, weren't they? Or was it The New Yardbirds or something. There used to be a story going round, apocryphal or otherwise, that Moon the Loon gave them their name as he apparently commented that they were so crap that they'd go down like a lead balloon or something like that.

Now, Spinal Tap they were a band... "stop wasting my time and give me some money, give me some money, ""big bottom, big bottom talk about mudflaps my girl's got 'em" or "working on a sex farm, ploughing through your beanfield' etc.

:clown:
