Torneyboy
An Indian doctor who was absent from work fo 19 years has been paid 2.5 million rupees in compensation, the Deccan Herald in Bangalore has reported. Dr R Sardesai said he stayed home from 1970 to 1989 because he ""was not given any posting and it was the governments fault if he was absent for so long"". The pensioner took his case to the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal, which ruled that the period from 1970 to 1972 should be considered leave and the remaining 17years as ""waiting or posting"" and ordered that he be paid salary and retirement benefits. The case has raised suspicion about how such a large amount of money could be granted to a doctor who had been illegally absent from work. The paper quoted a source as saying""attempts were made to hush up the case"". ::
Ckrisg
A recent case in Manchester UK, a Teacher was suspended for 12 years on false claims of abuse. Cost the local Authority 2.5 Million to investigate after the Police dropped the case. Teacher had to retire (with big pay off) as he was unable to go back to work as he had no idea what the standards of teaching were any more.
