Torneyboy Posted January 27, 2004 Report Share Posted January 27, 2004 Explaining wedding Protocol to Thais. On the weekend i was with a group of Thais for a picnic at a local beach. This beach and surrounds are very popular with falang for the after wedding photo shoot...or the wedding on the beach as well. This day we saw three different groups. I was asked to explain why many ladies had the same dress etc. One of the larger groups were on the sand for the photos.. i said one lady is the Matron of Honor and the others are bridesmaids. After i said falang can have many in the wedding party it is up to the couple i got confused looks. The groom ..has a best man and can also have several groomsmen. As well we can have a flower girl/boy or both. Most of the Thais said they would have two to help the Bride and two to help the groom. It got to hard once i started on fathers giving the bride away etc The girls were fascinated in the proceedings and gave their BFs long hard glances....most are not married ....but have been long time together.
