The cost of sex in Rio?

I have been planning a re-visit to Brazil a long time and after this bullshit now going on in Thailand especially in Bangkok (high prices, closing times, no nudity, bad attitudes ) just wondered what's Rio like nowadays?

 

I was there during the Carnaval '02 and really enjoyed the most beautiful women IMO in the world. Never had to pay more than R100 or so for the girls from Help to go to short-time hotel and sometimes got girls for R50 also, mostly from Praca Maua. Even had fun with a "normal" girl for free. With these current exchange rates those prices would be really low, much lower than the ones quoted in Bangkok, but do the girls want more nowadays? Anybody been to Rio lately and visited Help Discoteca or Praca Maua?

Trooper, Brasil is cheap and good as ever, and specially with this wind of restrictions blowing in Thailand ; But currently same kind of wind blows on Copacabana and police raids are very frequent .... IMO the years of Rio as a gringo's pussy heaven are counted, as the farang scene in Bangkok ... prostitution might be in trouble in Copacabana for the next ten years ...

 

I don't really care because Copacabana was just a disco (Help), four or five bars (Meia Patata, Mab's, ect) and a few 'boites' (Barbarella ect ...) ... and nothing more .... I personnaly found much more spots in Porto Velho, Manaus, Goiania, Curitiba or Ciuiaba (or in fact any Brasilian city of one million inhabitants or more has a much better scene) .... not talking of Sao Paulo ...

 

Anyway Copa is not Rio and Rio is not Brasil : Sex in Copa has always been two times more expensive than in Sao Paulo and two to ten times than in the rest of Brasil, for a lower quality. In most of the cities outside Rio, the sex scene is MUCH MUCH larger, more informal and frequently MUCH MUCH better ...

 

Copacabana is (was ?) crowded with overpaying Brasil's newbies gringos (with a 'mug me or charge me twice' tattoed on their forehead) and uninspired hardened ugly pros ... but anybody with some sense and a little experience of Brasil knows it already ... to me, Rio is a nest of average-looking Vipers and muggers looking to make some dollars ; That's why the Brasilian authorities try to shut it down IMO ;

 

Maybe in Jan and Feb you get some 'not yet spoiled' and still 'innocents'semi-pros beauties in Rio from inland towns, but these are in the minority.

At other times of the year, you are left in Rio with the hardcore baseline and most of these are looking for the mug punter who will overpay and only stay short time in Brasil.

 

Anyway if you don't feel like travelling deep in Brasil, which i can understand, Sao Paulo has a much better pro and semi-pro scene than Rio ; It's a best kept secret full of stunners and countless good clubs (i reported quite recently on the subject) ..... but better keep this place ripe and don't let it get "Rio-ized" .....

(BTW i've been once in the Placa Maua spots you mentionned and quickly made a 180° turn as i saw the scene inside : for me even the lowest spots of the suburbs of Manaus seemed to have a better selection, but to everyone his own ...)

Trooper re-reading my post, i apologize for having been so negative about Copacabana without answering your question ; i was very recently in Rio and have been quite deasepointed, both by the over-touristed atmosphere and for not having had the opportunity to spend a few days in Sampa as i initially planed ;

 

So..... yes, Brasil is currently cheap and despite a very low Real, prices did not go higher as the market is mainly local, except in Rio of course ;

 

Those are Sao Paulo's spots prices (September), cheaper inland in towns like Goiania, more expensive in Rio :

 

Hotels (4 stars girl-friendly) around 120 reals (35 ?) ;

Girlies still among the sexiest, prettiest and niciest on earth, around 150 reals (40 ?) for a mclass escort or a beauty in Bomboa (300 reals for 'uma festa' with two girls) ;

Best churrascaria (all you can eat top meat) around 35 reals (10 ?) ;

Entrance fee with six drinks included in Bomboa or Cafe Gauguin around 70 reals (20 ?) ;

Drink in Love Story, absolute best after-hours disco on planet earth, packed to the walls with stunners ready to be your slave for the night, the most expensive place in SP with Cafe Photo and W, around 20 reals (6 ?), or 250 reals a Black Label bottle (70 ?, worth the spent IMHO) ;

 

Hope this help ..... BTW, i agree with you, making love to a Brasilian beauty is one of the best experience ever, and uncomparable when with two of them :: !!!!

Thanks for reply, I read some other boards and got the impression too that Rio has really gone downhill. And your comment about Praca Maua, the other one of the two boites in the harbour had two stunningly beautiful girls, rest of them were horrible. Just read some info on Recife, that sounded interesting.

Trooper, Recife is totally different, even if pro's spots are quite limited (the best 'boite' is called 'Sampa' !!): there is anyway a good amateur scene and a relaxed atmosphere.

 

Wait for your report anyway wherever you will go in Brasil ;
