I went to throw some stuff out one day, and she said "No, it reminded her of the day we had there." A lot of people, both East and West want and need little things to remind them of the 'good times'. Last time I went back, my G/f had a "shrine" set up on her only table in her room. Everything from empty shampoo containers, to bottle caps, to flight stubs, from our previous trip to Samui.
