Guest
Chaiyo. Means "yippee!", or "Harrah". Any other Thai words synonymous with this word? HT
Zaad
How about "CHEERS"
Guest
CHEERS is a Thai word? Is that with a falling, or low tone? HT
Zaad
Rising tone I meant it as another meaning of "chaiyo".
Chanchao
It seems a strangely 'formal' form of "hooray". I don't think I've ever heard it outside of Bangkok. I'm very interested in this as well. I think I associate it more with official celebrations more than a common exclamation of joy. Cheers, Chanchao
Guest
Hi Chanchao Really? I only ask, as my g/f uses it quite regularly. If I tell her I had a good day at my store, this is the first thing she will say. She was brought up in AngThong, and moved to Nakhon Phathom at age 17. As such, she's never lived outside of the central Thai area. HT
