Torneyboy
Two Australian women in jail for trying to smuggle drugs into Australia. Were to serve 50 years in a Thai Prison. Due to the introduction of a prisoner exchange programme with Thailand the women will arrive back in OZ tomorrow. They have served 8 years of a fifty year term. They will now serve a term of five years in a womens prison and then be released. How lucky are they? Another 42 years in BKK prison if this deal was not in place now. Still thirteen years is a bit short IMO
tonychang
Sounds quite resonable to me if not a tad heavy by my countrys laws.

gobbledonk
Their initial 50 year sentence ('life') was halved when they agreed to sign a confession, so they will serve 13 years of a 25 year sentence. Thailand's sentencing is too harsh, particularly in the case of 'small fish' (mostly addicts), but Oz's is too lenient. That said, anyone trying to leave Thailand with so much as an ounce of white powder is a complete idiot.
