Lamock Chokaprret
While reading another thread it reminded me of a question I've long held but never tried to get answered. When I first became employed here in LOS, I was handed a 'tax ID card' by the company secretary who indicated it could be presented to any official government site that charged higher prices to farangs and obtain the Thai price instead. Presumably because I'm paying the taxes I'm eligible to be treated as a Thai. Naturally the card is entirely in Thai and so the fine print is useless to me as a reference. Has anybody ever tried to do this and what were the results?
Guest
Yes I've done it several times, e.g. Ayuthaya, Khao Yai after my GF told me to try it, but only at government places not the commercial laces like crocodile farm and the ilk. frogpatrol
I once tried this at Wat Phra Kaew and almost came to blows with the guard who still would not let me in. Ahhh, my blood did boil in those days.....I now know well that confrontation gets you nowhere in Thailand, but this kind of stuff still gets under my skin. froggo
Ashman
I heard the best thing to do is ask why foriegners have to pay more than Thais on entering the temple or whatever. The man will probably use the excuse that Thais pay tax. Then you produce your trump card and bingo.
