northerner
I'm British and recently married a Thai in Thailand. We have not yet registered the marriage. What paperwork do I need to provide in order to do the registration here?
Guest
It's probably the same as the US, which means that you would have to attest to your consulate that you are free to marry. You'd take this to a translation service who would put it into thai. Once this is done you take it to the legalization department of the foreign affairs department. You drop it off there for a cuople of days and pay a 100 baht fee. Once the legalization is done you take the paper to a amphur office and do the paperwork to be married. You're supposed to take a translator to do this, or pay a bit of tea money. Once this is done, you're married. One thing make sure they translate your name correctly!
