phoenix Posted September 4, 2004 Report Share Posted September 4, 2004 Some months ago, in LOS or Laos, I needed new AAA bateries for a nifty little digital dictation gadget (Sony), I bought in Singapore. Only AAA batteries available were a Chinese brand called FEI YA. today, 4 months later, not having used the gadget while at home, I open it to change batteries. they're fused to the inside of the gadget, and eaten their way across most of the metal inside, few hundred bucks down the drain. WARNING: Check your batteries regularly, and don't buy crap brands. Reminds me of the day at Nok's house, in the dark hinterland of Issaan. The Karaoke machine she brought back from Taiwan after her marriage broke up, wasn't working, 'falang' was asked to see if he could fix. No sound out of the mike. Must be bad machine, said Sister. Falang started to unscrew mike, got stopped by sis and Nok 'Don't break it, problem in machine, not mike. I said, lets try mike, maybe need battery. 'Mike no have battery' Did it ever, green and coroded, but still fixable. Had the same battery since new, nobody knew it had one. Falang got reward.
